Allow me to share some good news. Lavāda had the opportunity to be interviewed by tocco, an organization that is at the top of their game when it comes to topics of environmentalism and the impacts companies can make. A special thank you to Anh NG. for making this happen. As a small business that is focused on innovation and sustainable options in fashion, it is always great to connect with like-minded entities. It’s a strange moment in time. There is a handful of innovators, founders and environmentalists who are risking everything to turn things around. Everything. And then there are major corporations which could easily help to push them off the runway into the air. But then, leadership teams are not incentivized to take such risks, to truly implement change strategies. They actually get punished for taking a stand, if they do. Despite that these companies who lead the worlds economy have been started by one or multiple founders as well. And yes, they often took gigantic risks themselves. It is time to make risk taking in benefit of our future the most important KPI for a corporate leader. In benefit of our survival. That’s why I believe, it’s time for shareholders to show the courage that is so urgently needed to end our global environmental crisis. At Parley for the Oceans we will make rapid transformation of our economy a high net worth ‘family business’. So companies like Renewcell have a realistic chance to make it off the airfield and solve the epic challenges we are facing. Because the current culture of doing investments is definitely outdated.

This weekend’s news about Renewcell's bankruptcy is tough. Thinking of Tricia Carey and the Renewcell team. Your efforts in sustainable fashion have made an incredible difference. We are all thinking of you guys.

GRAFF INC.—remember the name. These students all have their individual stories but are united in a common cause—to rival fast fashion brands and contribute to a fully circular economy. The vision of a greener, more sustainable future is the dream and this year’s Hult Prize propelled the team to new heights and put them at the heart of the conversation around fast fashion. 1.) The fashion industry has a sustainability problem—GRAFF INC. Experienced this in each of their five home countries. 2.) Originally producing sustainable hangers, their groundbreaking plastic-substitute Texterial is now used for several domestic items, and its versatility is only growing. 3.) GRAFF INC. powered through the rounds of the Hult Prize winning the Boston summit and being featured in the press. 4.) And Paris was just the beginning—GRAFF INC. have no plans to slow down after the final. Watch the video for the full story. They didn’t begin from a standing start either. When we talk about sustainability within fashion companies, we need to remember that no matter how sustainable we want to be, we are still talking about businesses. “As Sustainable as Possible, As Soon as Possible” (ASAP) is a philosophy adopted by Oskar Metsavaht and his brand Osklen, which emphasizes the urgency of implementing sustainable practices in fashion. This approach seeks to maximize sustainability at every stage of the business, from design to production and distribution, through continuous innovation, transparency, education and collaboration. Metsavaht believes that fashion must act immediately to reduce its environmental and social impact, promoting a total commitment to sustainability. As an entrepreneur and a player in the fashion market, he believes in viable sustainability, which cares about the environment without making costs and processes unmanageable. #Fashion #entrepreneur #sustainability

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of watching Fashion Reimagined, a documentary that left me feeling inspired, hopeful, and invigorated about the future of sustainable fashion. As someone deeply entrenched in the world of textile value chain management, this film struck a chord with me on multiple levels ❤️ Reflecting on my journey through a Master's degree in Textile Value Chain Management, I can't help but marvel at the profound changes that have occurred in the industry, particularly in terms of sustainability. Amy Powney and her visionary brand, Mother of Pearl, stand out as beacons of progress, showing us what's possible when creativity meets conscience. The documentary served as a poignant flashback to where we've been and how far we've come in such a short time. From exploitative labor practices to environmental degradation, the fashion industry has had its fair share of dark moments. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of activists, innovators, and forward-thinkers, we're witnessing a paradigm shift towards a more ethical and sustainable future. But let's not rest on our laurels just yet. As the documentary reminded me, there is still much work to be done. As someone passionate about reshaping the textile industry for the better, I see this as both a challenge and an opportunity. It's a call to action for all of us to continue pushing the boundaries, challenging the status quo, and demanding better from ourselves and our peers. In my studies, I've learned firsthand the power of collaboration, innovation, and advocacy in driving meaningful change. Whether it's implementing circular supply chains, adopting eco-friendly materials, or championing fair labor practices, every step we take brings us closer to a more sustainable future for fashion. So here's to the trailblazers like Amy Powney, whose bold vision and unwavering commitment inspire us to dream bigger and do better. And here's to the journey ahead, filled with challenges, triumphs, and endless possibilities. Together, let's continue reimagining fashion for a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow. 🌟💚 Suomalaisille linkki Yle Areenaan, jossa voit katsoa kyseisen dokumentin. #FashionReimagined #Sustainablefashion

Looking forward to reading The GANNI Playbook next month. When the fashion landscape falls short on accountability, Ganni is committed to acting responsibly, authenticity and where possible, sustainability. For example their goal of using 90% of preferred materials by 2025 is ambitious and inspiring, citing cancelling colours of a best seller until a suitable replacement material is found. Hoping their actions and shared learnings will inspire action as they ‘demonstrate the principles of a responsible business, where greater purpose co-exists with financial ambition’. There is also something special about GANNI creativity, where pieces are worn season after season and always pass the ‘Does this spark joy?’ test at every wardrobe edit! Therefore already embodying conscious consumption, by the very nature & desirability of the collections. #responsibility #sustainability #action #authenticity #accountability #gannigirls #ganni Brooke Roberts-Islam

The Power of Underproduction: A Sustainable Approach by HANNE BLOCH In the world of fashion, the norm is to overproduce. The logic is simple: the cost of goods sold (COGS) is low, and the potential profit from each sale is high. Therefore, losing a sale by having one item too few can be more financially damaging than producing five items too many that are never sold. But at HANNE BLOCH, we choose to challenge this norm. We choose to underproduce. #Sustainability #FashionIndustry Our approach is simple. We buy a limited stock of fabrics each year, ensuring that we use it all. We produce a level of quality that we know lasts for multiple years, meaning our customers don't need to buy new every season. This approach is not just about financial prudence; it's about limiting our environmental footprint & setting an example. #SustainableFashion #QualityOverQuantity From a purely financial perspective, underproduction is counterintuitive. But when we factor in the environmental cost, the equation changes. Overproduction in the fashion industry leads to waste - waste of resources, waste of energy, and waste of potential. By choosing to underproduce, we are making a conscious decision to reduce this waste. At HANNE BLOCH, we believe in the value of each piece we create. We know we can sell everything we produce, and we are committed to ensuring nothing goes to waste. This is not the easy route, but we believe it's the right one. #ValueDriven #Commitment We understand why many companies choose to overproduce. The financial logic is clear. But at HANNE BLOCH, we choose to look beyond the immediate financials. We choose to consider the environmental impact of our actions. We choose to underproduce, and we are proud to show that it is possible to succeed in the fashion industry while also respecting our planet. #ResponsibleFashion #HANNEBLOCH Join us in our journey towards a more responsible fashion industry; or ask us ANYTHING in the comments below. We'd love to engage with you.

Did you know that the textile dyeing industry is among the largest water consumers globally, accounting for over 5 trillion liters annually? Not just that, it contributes to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, largely due to toxic chemical dyes and extensive machinery usage. Enter Colorfix – they try to transform this landscape. Their groundbreaking approach uses bacteria-based dyes developed through natural fermentation, aligning with nature and benefitting both people and the planet. 🍃 Colorfix's journey began with a quest to mitigate the environmental damage of chemical dyes, drawing inspiration from nature's own coloring methods. By replicating the DNA pathways of colors found in flora and fauna, they've created a sustainable alternative that doesn't extract from nature but emulates it. Their process starts with microbial engineering, followed by careful pigment extraction and fermentation – similar to brewing beer but yielding vibrant colors instead of alcohol. Finally, these dyes are naturally fixed onto fabrics, ensuring quality without environmental compromise. However, it's not just about the dyes. True sustainability in fashion involves a cultural shift – buying less, reusing more, and extending the life of our clothes. Colorfix is a significant step in this journey, but the responsibility also lies with us as consumers. Check out their story and how they're redefining sustainability in textile dyeing. Move towards a more sustainable future in every field! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dEZ4csFY #Sustainability #Colorfix #SustainableFashion #SmartSustainableEnvironment #savetheplanet
