To address the current housing and cost of living crisis, it's crucial for the government to actively support the construction industry in advancing healthy, affordable prefabricated housing options like this! Far too many individuals are being forced to spend their limited resources on substandard solutions such as caravans, shipping containers, and expander pods that rely on makeshift construction techniques. These options often result in severe cold, inadequate access to essential facilities, improper waste disposal, are prone to mould from water ingress and condesation. They are a significant draw on local government and often police resources due to constant generator noise, environmental damage, and unpleasant odors. By investing in and promoting high-quality, sustainable housing solutions, the government and construction industry can significantly improve living conditions for those most affected by the crisis. I’m so pleased to see initiatives like this and hope it can be scaled and expanded on to provide an affordable, healthy and dignified living option for many.
A collaboration between Newcastle architect Steele Olney from Studio Dot and Pro Clima Australia partner and builder Evan Graham is the basis for our latest pro clima case study, A Perfect Pod. The prefabricated Passive House design pods are wonderfully innovative and adaptable high-performance dwellings, that are at once a rural weekender, a backyard studio or an additional city living space. ➡️ Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gnypgYY4 📸 Photo Courtesy – Alex Mcintyre Photography #proclimacasestudy #prefabrication #innovation #passivehouse #Passivhaus

Showing that the Orangery’s architecture captures the outdoors. The Orangery at Holland Park is a space defined by its seamless connection to the outside, with vast windows that flood the interior with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere. Photographing this venue isn’t just about showing its beauty; it’s about capturing how the greenery and sunlight from the park transform the Orangery into an open, inspiring setting. The photography is about showing that the unique connection with the surrounding park turns the space into more than just an event venue—it becomes a living, breathing environment filled with light and nature. This flood of light and nature makes the space ideal not only for events but also for creative installations. I had the privilege of photographing Liz Marsh and her team as they crafted a stunning floral installation. These behind-the-scenes photographs add a human element to a series of images about the space at the Orangery. Featuring people in action within the space helps potential clients of the venue envision how it can be utilised, allowing them to easily imagine their own events or installations coming to life. Lighting creates the magic 💫 When creating the lighting design for residential projects, it is important to assess the demands of each room in the home: how we use each space in our daily life, the time of day we use each space and what natural light is available. This all plays a part in the levels and type of lighting required. Lighting – when used well – can enhance living spaces, creating the right ambience, and supporting their functionality at different times of the day. Making sure each lighting element has a function and a reason is key. If lighting is used intelligently, it can transform a space and can be the hidden secret to its success 🖤 Photography – Andrew Beasley #LightingDesign #ResidentialLighting #LuxuryLighting #Ambience

Digital Biscuit Tin - 2022 Stratford I have been incredibly lucky to start up the Construction Photography Business when there was just SOOO much great Construction going on all over London. We have virtually grown up alongside 'Stratford' and Kings Cross from those first tentative steps to now becoming REAL destinations. There certainly has been a legacy from the 2012 Games and Stratford has a real Multi-Cultural vibe that I have only ever really experienced South of the river before. The Developments are EXACTLY what is required for 'Housing' consisting of real communities around existing infrastructure (Stratford has Elizabeth Line, Jubilee Line, DLR and an International Station going to France (Even if it does currently mean going back into London first) The communities have great chill out areas, plenty of pavement cafes and bars and now an Arts Quarter in addition to being the 'new' home of West Ham United (OK, you cant win them all :-) Street Furniture has to tick lots of boxes now, not only the source of the materials but also the design, how 'robust' (sadly) it is and does it need or create maintenance. There is nothing quite like having the courage to ask if you can share a bench with someone. Its certainly something I try to do. Sometimes people want to be alone and others are quite happy for someone to talk to. We made quite a bit of progress in this direction around Covid. I know schools have 'Talking Benches' which might be a bit mis-leading, but somewhere others can join you if you want to talk. Coffee Houses had different colour tables or table clothes depicting them as 'Sharing tables' Furniture isnt just somewhere to sit. It can be the difference between Developments and Communities. Stratford has set the bar really high on what CAN be achieved with homes, work, retail and leisure set within pathways and cycle paths, with great Train Links. WE dont need to re-invent the wheel. Its already there and Kings Cross, Canary Wharf, Elephant & Castle and White City are just a few examples. #urbanlandscaping #communities #housing #london #photography

Sometimes you have to use the contrast between new and old to create context. The new corporate building flows with an organic presence, reflecting the city landscape in the curtain wall that runs from its top to bottom and fits into an environment of resudential houses built in the mid-20th century. In this case, the visual contrast between the most modern piece of the landscape and the oldest ones is evident but it should never be shocking. If you just stick with that "old and new" anecdote, you'll end up with some photos that may be interesting when someone sees them for the first time but may be boring when the viewer curiosity vanishes. That is why you have to be very careful when considering all the photographs you will take of a building and you have to think of them as explaining a story –or rather, like explaining a story to a child before going to sleep.
