The Climate Change Committee has awarded WSP in the UK a £296k contract to assess economy-wide water scarcity risks. This project will play a key role in the Fourth UK Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA4), due in January 2027. Our team, supported by a consortium of leading experts including HR Wallingford, Cranfield University, and Cambridge Econometrics, will explore how sectoral water demand and scarcity risks in the UK could evolve, especially in the context of Net Zero efforts. We’ll also identify the most effective adaptation actions to manage these risks. This work aims to provide crucial evidence for decision-makers to help the UK become more resilient to water scarcity.
