Supporting Pride Month this June, we hear from Geffrye Parsons in this short clip, where he discusses his tips on how to be open at work about your sexual orientation. 1. Create a private plan on how you will come out. 2. Approach your LGBTQ+ ERG or sign up as an ally to the group. 3. If you have no ERG try to find someone who is LGBTQ+ or an ally and speak to them for support. 4. Slowly introduce clues. 5. Ultimately each situation is unique, so come out at work only IF, WHEN and HOW you feel comfortable to do so. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ+

This #PrideMonth our Social Media feeds and workplaces have shown an encouraging amount of visibility and support for our Pride community. However, GLAAD has reminded us that fair and accurate representation in media and journalism have a powerful and measurable effect on the lives of #LGBTQ people. What we watch on TV tends to mirror our current views, ideas, aspirations, fears, and concerns; so, while support for LGBTQ has reached an all-time high, we’re concerned to hear about LGBTQ-inclusive series being cancelled or abruptly ending after one or two seasons. Of the 468 LGBTQ TV characters counted in a recent GLADD study, at least 170 will not return next year, with 24% percent of those due to series cancellations or endings. We support the call to action and for unity, to boldly stand up and speak out for the rights, freedoms and dignities of LGBTQ people, families and allies everywhere. #LGBTQInclusion #PrideMonth2024 #DiversityAndInclusion

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. This month, we’ve been sharing tips on how you can be a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community, including how checking your own privilege helps you to be more supportive, and that you shouldn’t underestimate the power of calling out discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. 👉 Allyship Tip 3: Everyone is different! 👈 Meeting one trans person, means you’ve met one trans person. This goes for anyone within the LGBTQ+ community (or any marginalised community for that matter!). Everyone’s lived experiences and situations are completely different and each person should be treated as an individual. Don’t make assumptions about how that person wants to be referred to, how much information they feel comfortable sharing, or how much support they need, based on other LGBTQ+ people you have met. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and as an individual, so take the time to understand each person. #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

Pride season is upon us! Here’s how to be a better ally during June, the month of Pride and beyond: 1. Be open to learn Support your LGBTQ+ friends by listening, to truly understand their experiences. 2. Confront your own prejudices and unconscious biases Challenge stereotypes and assumptions. Be mindful of the jokes you make. 3. Know that language matters Respect LGBTQ+ people’s names and pronouns. Use inclusive language and if appropriate, gender-neutral terms like ‘partner’. 4. Know that everybody messes up sometimes – If you make a mistake, breathe, apologise, and ask for guidance. 🏳️🌈 If you're a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, you might refer to yourself as an "ally". But what does that really mean, and are you ACTUALLY as much of one as you think? 🔎 According to the Collins Dictionary, an ally is “someone who supports people who are in a minority group or who are discriminated against, even though they do not belong to that group themselves.” 💪 And when it comes to the workplace, actively supporting the LGBTQ+ community involves a variety of actions to demonstrate true allyship. 💡 In her latest article, Hannah Pearsall, head of wellbeing at Hays UK&I, explains the six steps you can take: https://lnkd.in/efP-NFAT #pridemonth #lgbtq #allyship
