We applaud the U.S. Surgeon General's Office for issuing a first-of-its-kind advisory declaring firearm violence in America as a public health crisis. As the advisory concludes, it will take the collective commitment of the nation to turn the tide on this crisis. A public health approach has the potential to curb the alarming trends of firearm-related injury and death that we see in Colorado and across the country, which have devastating impacts to our physical and mental health. As we continue to champion a public health approach to firearm harm prevention in Colorado, Trailhead is excited to use our program office as a hub for building collaboration across the state and working alongside communities to enact solutions that work best for them. Read Elyse Weber-Sacks, President of Connie Rosenberg & Associates Care Managment's Q&A session! Her expertise is invaluable to all those supporting loved ones or experiencing the aging journey, and to better understand the role of care management
"To celebrate Aging Life Care® Month in May, the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) offered small group conversations for family caregivers, solo-agers, or anyone looking for information on Aging Life Care services. These small groups are opportunities for people with questions about caring for an aging loved one, or concerns about solo-aging, to get clear, quick answers and learn how an ALCA member can assist in the aging journey. Elyse Weber-Sacks, President of Connie Rosenberg & Associates Care Management, and Director on the National ALCA Board hosted a session with participants from around the country. Below is an edited excerpt from that discussion, held via Zoom on May 17th."

Comment on the case of Gowing v Ward (2024) - the case of the "forgotten" grandchildren. The importance of contemporaneous evidence. Mr Ward had 3 children. One predeceased him leaving five granddaughters. Mr Ward updated his will to split his estate equally between the two surviving children. No residuary gifts to the five granddaughters. The testator _had_ capacity despite: ❌ early indication of dementia ❌ previously failed a mini-cognitive dementia screen (an abbreviated mental capacity score) ❌ problems communicating - sometimes needing a family member to act as "interpreter". There was: ✅ correspondence of Mr Ward's wishes in a letter from Mr Ward on file ✅ indication of understanding of extent of estate ✅ substitute gifts to grandchildren. Evidence from the time is key. What better evidence is there than certified, encrypted contemporaneous video? Use #capacityvault and do away with uncertainty. #willsandprobate https://lnkd.in/eEndJ7xE
