Whilst measuring the impact of research can be difficult, it’s not impossible. Pleased to be part of a working group at Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) to develop guidance on research indicators. Five key principles: be clear, be transparent, be specific, be contextual, and be fair. From the blog introducing it: “The new guidance avoids simple recommendations like, “Do / do not use this indicator.” Instead, it describes limitations of the indicators to help provide nuance in the application of quantitative indicators.” bit.ly/DORAindicators

Leena Malkki presented the main findings from a research work conducted together with Irina van der Vet on the “Relatives Act” initiative: • Initiative's representative considered the definition of theory of change very helpful and valuable • When planning an #evaluation, it is very important to involve key stakeholders, including different people working in the intiative /association • Finding #resources for doing evaluation is a challenge • Value of small-scale process evaluations should not be overlooked, especially as the first step

A lot has been written about the need for ethical research policies. Very little has focused on coordinating and implementing these policies across research institutions, federal agencies, professional societies, and accreditation bodies to bring about real change. This report tackles those issues, a result of bringing together stakeholders from across the research enterprise.
