TEDxRaleigh 2024 was incredible! I’m so glad I was able to represent Plan To Action as the title sponsor. Shout out to Bearta Alchacar and her team for creating something amazing. Part of why I wanted to sponsor the event this year was the theme of “Uncomfortable Solutions”. As the owner of a #Diversity #Equity and #Inclusion consulting firm, I am very familiar with coming up with uncomfortable solutions. #DEI is an area where we are ALL still learning and growing, so the actions we take can feel uncomfortable, so I just knew I’d resonate with the talks at the event, and the speakers did not disappoint! A few key themes across the talks that stood out to me given the work I do: - Construct Clarity: we have to be clear in what we are talking about. We also have to begin all of our efforts by first asking “WHY”, why is this a priority for me? My business? - Center Humanity: we all have different backgrounds and stories. It’s important that we take the time to genuinely connect with others, it will improve our ability to support each other and find better solutions. - Emotional Intelligence: this skill while may be considered a “soft skill” is vital in allowing us to meet our own needs, and to help others as well. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Carlos Terol 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 Good Ripple. In recent months, I’ve explored the online world in search of inspiring changemakers worldwide. What drives them? How do they connect? This curiosity has led me to incredible people and initiatives that bring hope when despair can feel all too close. During my journey, I encountered Carlos Terol, the founder of Good Ripple. Good Ripple is a changemaker community that now boasts around 3,500 changemakers from around the globe. 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: - 𝘛𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 - 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘴 - 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 Carlos has created something with Good Ripple that profoundly resonates with my desire for collaboration. Collaboration within a ‘mycelium’ network of changemakers. It’s all about working together and being together. We have to unite. Recently, Carlos announced that Good Ripple is organizing its first live event in London this November and is seeking sponsors to support this initiative.
