As the world watched in awe, the responsibility of capturing these moments has evolved into a high-tech endeavour, and the 2024 Paris Games have been described as the most visually and sonically immersive games yet. At ShootCutPlay, we've been inspired by how the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) pushed the boundaries with cutting-edge technology—from 8K video and 360-degree filming to drones and cinematic camera lenses. Yet, as we know all too well, even the most advanced tech is only as powerful as the story it tells. Even though we bid farewell to the 2024 Olympics this Sunday, the magic of it all still lingers. I tried the first immersive sports video for #VisionPro This is what you should know 👇 🎥 The potential for live sports is undeniable. Even being "just" 180 degrees I never felt something was missing. I can see people paying a premium for this type of experience. 👂The audio was something I didn't expect to have a big impact BUT hearing the ball hitting the net just made me feel so much more present. ✂️Editing this type of content needs to improve. I felt lost during the fast camera cuts and quickly changing zoom levels. ⚽ Fast-moving objects... like the ball (especially when spinning) still have quite some artifacts. 🕛It was just 5 min... so there wasn't much to see. 📅Production took over 110 days. If immersive video for sport is going to be a thing, turnaround must be faster How do you see the #future and #spatialcomputing?

In effect what this technology provides is social telepresnece. A room of people is offered an environment where there perception is given enough situational environmental input to merge their real location with the location of the game. It's cross over immersion. Real world+ virtual world. There's kind of a perception threshold where the mind doesn't care the game is projected. Especially if the resolution and HDR is of high enough quality. @Cosm could drive 1000x the revenue by streaming the footage to ppv on Oculus VR!! Money from the bar, money from the content, money from the PPV and distribution to anyone with a VR headset. Who will sell me the domestic version of this wrap around view?
