Lee County Tax Collector’s Post

The traditional fireworks celebration on the 4th of July began in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, during the first organized celebration of Independence Day. Ships in the harbor fired their cannons in a 13-gun salute in honor of the 13 colonies. Today the Liberty Bell is tapped (not actually rung) 13 times in honor of the original American colonies.
