Designers / Hiring Managers: How is an associates in design viewed within the product design world? Is that of value? Would love thoughts especially from hiring managers and design teams on associates versus bachelors in design. Any examples of when an associates degree would be enough for a position? What would the pay difference between two candidates with similar experience but one with an associates and one with a bachelors?

Growth and Product Marketing Specialist. Extensive Experience in Performance Marketing, Content Strategy Design & Execution, B2B & B2C Marketing, Digital Customer Experience and Customer Value Management
I don't know who needs to hear this but please stop describing yourself as 'Aspiring, Budding, Upcoming' etc. You are setting yourself up to be underpaid. You are a product designer and not an aspiring product designer! Let the recruiter/client/hiring manager assess you and determine your skill level, so they can offer compensation that is commensurate with your skills. When you describe yourself with those adjectives, you automatically create a bias in their minds and YOU WILL BE UNDERPAID. #FranklySpeakingWithFranklyne

Some people misunderstand this. They think hiring a great product designer is "expensive". You know what's really expensive? 1. Having unhappy customers 2. Not solving people's issues 3. Designing without doing any research 4. Creating a product that people can't really use 5. Becoming unnecessary So, make that hire. You might be pleasantly surprised.

The other day, I was chatting about job openings with my friends. Since I'm a designer, they asked for my help with the descriptions for these positions. 😊 It was surprising to see how little people know about different designer roles. So, I thought it'd be cool to break them down one by one. ✍ This way, next time you're looking for someone, you'll know exactly who is the right fit! #product #productdesign

building media houses for entrepreneurs & their brands | sharing one entrepreneurial insight for aspiring entrepreneurs
December month, our top 1% Sr. Designers got started on exciting projects: 1. Lenskart 2. BlogVault And a few of them are just getting finished serving a few: 1. Bamboobox 2. Dubdub.ai The aim is simple: give quality sr. product designers to good product companies that have a burning need to hire one. How do we define quality? Through a rigorous first round process. It took us 2 years and countless chats with design leaders across verticals to formalise it. And each designer goes through the process. A few make the cut. Common reason for rejection? Lack of a great case study that highlights the ability to tell a story and share an impactful work. One quality that tops the list? Work ethic. It's hard to filter great designers - a pain point a hiring founder, a designer or an HR would understand. And that's where we can come in and help you guys out. **** If you like what I'm building at Versatile, Top 1% Design Talent. Do follow my journey for more! :)

It's important for managers in different delivery areas to be open to change. Maheen Sohail shared her experience transitioning from Design Manager to IC Designer, highlighting how Design Managers can excel in IC roles. As the industry and technology continue to evolve, it's essential to understand these messages in order to adapt and thrive in the dynamic world of innovation. #Design #Leadership #Adaptability #Continuous #Learning
Design managers are being forced to take Individual Contributor (non-management) roles due to 'flattening' happening across the tech industry! On the other end of the spectrum some design managers are realizing they love the craft more and want to switch back to their IC design roots. How does one make the transition from being a Design Manager to an IC designer? Is it just a question of being on top of your Figma design skills? To get answers I reached out to Maheen Sohail who recently by choice transitioned from a Design Manager to Senior Designer role at Meta. Talking to her I gained amazing new perspectives: 1. Design Managers make great ICs because now they understand what their leadership expects from them. 2. As a Design Manager if you are afraid of losing touch with your Figma design skills, work on a few creative projects outside of work that challenge your design skills. 3. Switching from a Design Manager to IC designer is not an irreversible process! It's ok to switch back and forth. Check out my podcast interview with Maheen Sohail (Design Lead at Meta) to learn how to transition from a Design Manager to IC design role: VIDEO: https://lnkd.in/gBF2c4RM AUDIO: https://lnkd.in/gRUT2AgJ cc Ryan Tauss Courtney Walker Jaleh Afshar Jen Byyny Michael J Paulus Curious to hear from other design managers who switched to an IC design role - what was your journey like?
