Data from November 2024 suggests that 59% of Irish workers are finding it hard to “switch off from work”.* We understand the importance of getting remote workers away from their desk. That's why we supported Grow Remote volunteers to host a series of social events this month for remote employees all over the country - from after work drinks to yoga, brunch, hiking, a tour of an art gallery and coffee meetups. • Just 3% of tech firms are asking their employees to work in the office full-time. This is a significant drop from 8% last year and comes after companies experienced more resistance than they had anticipated, according to a 2024 Flex Index survey of 2,670 tech companies that collectively employ over 11 million people.* While 38% of tech firms had an “employee’s choice” model in 2023, today that percentage has jumped to 56%. It’s now the most popular policy among tech firms, with 79% of tech firms surveyed being fully flexible. • Remote roles can be difficult to find. This is because a lot of remote-first companies do not use the traditional forms of advertising to find top talent. For this reason, Grow Remote curates a live list of remote roles available for talent based in the Republic of Ireland and manages an archive of career resources for jobseekers anywhere in the world. Grow Remote is always keeping an eye on the supply of remote jobs in Ireland - today, 15% of all jobs are listed as remote (according to Linkedin). Are you ready for your next role? • Last year, Grow Remote hosted social connection events for remote workers across Ireland, Portugal and the UK. We designed these events in response to research highlighting social isolation as a challenge for remote workers. According to a 2023 FRS report, 30% of remote workers say their biggest challenge is “less colleague interaction” while a further 28% it is “switching off from work” is their main challenge.* This month, we are hosting various social events for remote workers including after work drinks, yoga, brunch, hiking, a tour of an art gallery and coffee meetups.
