In honor of National County Government Month, we're continuing to highlight each of the county elected positions in Idaho. Today we're featuring county sheriffs, and we're dedicating this post to the late Deputy Tobin Bolter of the Ada County Sheriff's Office. The Idaho Constitution (Article 18, Section 6) and state law (31-2001 and 31-2003) establish the office of sheriff, authorize sheriffs to appoint deputies and clerical assistants. Sheriffs are elected to serve four-year terms. The structure of the office of county sheriff could change if a county chooses to adopt an optional form of county government. The powers and duties of the sheriff may be organized into the following categories: 1. Police powers 2. Jail-keeping powers 3. Powers as officer of the court and process server 4. Drivers’ licensing 5. Other miscellaneous powers such as the duty to return to the state fugitives from justice through extradition proceedings Please join us in thanking our county sheriffs and their staff for their bravery and unwavering commitment to keeping our communities safe. First Amendment activists should be laser focused on the courts in Silicon Valley. These courts claim to be so backlocked people have been waiting in jail for years to get trials. Family court litigants are being bled out financially by judges continuing cases because of lack of court reporters and no power in the $283 milllon courthousethe judges claimed they desperately needed. Judges are going out to read to kids instead of doing the job paid to do like a well oiled propaganda machine as they crush public trust with secret BBMP meetings and memberships in groups like Inns of Court which they fail to disclose or remove themselves from cases where these memberships create clear conflicts of interest. 80 % of judge appointments in this court for minors counsel , private judges and discovery referees are white. Interpreters are non existent and the judges are married to or sleeping with court staff, cops and lawyers and never disclose it to the people who appear before them for their legal matters. Court cases move on secret dockets and due process doesn’t exist for the poor and most vulnerable as judges munch down feee lunches and take free trips provided by the lawyers who appear before them which they shamelessly never disclose #JudgePennypacker #JudgeGeffon #JudgeMcGowan topping our list this week . The court is also using social media while controlling public access through mainstream media. Here and on YouTube public comments are blocked. On Twitter only paid verified users can respond. The judges in Silicon Valley and the corrupt attorneys working for the court are the most dismissive of the First Amendment and civil rights in the country. Given the proximity to Silicon Valley and history of public corruption ( Judge Danser indictment for fixing traffic tickets with the Los Gatos police ) , it’s the little things that the ACLU and other groups should be watchdogging not parenting or marketing for parent votes as of the judges are warming up for another political campaign.

Successive #governments have used the police to put out political #propaganda and and emasculated in the wake of #BLM as well as #austerity #budget cuts. #twotier policing has not helped. So yes you are right, people do not respect the police. Let them do their job: law enforcement. Title: Stand Up for Dignity in Policing—A Citizen’s Call to Congress “This isn’t a message from a political action group or organization; it’s a call from a common citizen who believes dignity should be a basic human right. The Federal Public Dignity in Policing Act isn’t just another policy—it’s a vision for how we can reshape public safety with respect, fairness, and accountability at its core. Imagine a future where every police interaction is founded on respect, where officers are required to provide clear, evidence-based reasons for stops, and where transparency and dignity are woven into the fabric of every encounter. This Act demands that law enforcement prioritize the humanity of the individuals they serve, setting a standard of trust and respect that our communities desperately need. But this vision won’t become reality without the courage of members of Congress to introduce and champion this bill. We need leaders who are ready to listen to the voices of the people they serve, not just the voices of powerful groups. Let your representatives know that you support this Act—not because it’s politically motivated, but because it’s morally right. Reach out and ask them to sponsor the Federal Public Dignity in Policing Act. Together, we can establish a future where dignity and respect are guaranteed, not optional. #DignityInPolicing #HumanRights #CitizenVoice #CommunityTrust #ActionForDignity”

As the Vice President with the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA)representing the Westside, I remain deeply committed to ensuring that public safety in Chicago aligns with the demands and expectations of our communities. In our recent statement on the proposed 2025 CPD budget, CCPSA emphasized the critical importance of allocating resources in ways that not only enhance public safety but also advance compliance with the consent decree. Accountability and transparency are vital, and these values must be reflected in the budgetary process to meet the needs of our communities effectively. I encourage you to read the full statement and learn more about our recommendations for shaping a safer and more equitable Chicago. Together, we can work toward sustainable public safety solutions. #Community #PublicSafety #Accountability #GetInvolved
