**The August Bank Holiday: A Time for Relaxation and Reflection** As the UK enjoys the summer August bank holiday, it's a time for many to relax, unwind, and enjoy the summer weather. But for businesses, it can also be a time of planning and preparation. Here are some things to consider: Staff Holidays and Time Off: Ensure adequate staffing levels to cover any increased demand during the holiday period. Customer Service: If your business remains open, be prepared for increased customer enquiries and service requests. Emergency Planning: Have a plan in place for handling any emergencies that may arise during the holiday period. **While the August bank holiday is a time for leisure, it's also an opportunity for businesses to reflect on their performance and plan for the rest of the year.** Hope you enjoyed the long weekend! #bankholiday #ukbusiness #planning #summer

Every year, I see the same thing. Following the May Bank Holidays, we see news articles describing "parking chaos" as warm weather brings everyone out of hibernation. These articles are normally quickly followed by another piece covering how many more drivers were "slapped" with parking charges or penalty charges. They completely ignore how many motorists have parked without incident, and how well the sector navigates a massive influx in use. What will happen this weekend? Motorists across the UK jump in their cars to go enjoy one of the many beauty spots our country has. Where the problem lies is the attitude, that parking is a right, not a service. What does this mean? Vehicles are ditched by the sides of roads, people park where they want to, for however long they want to. Anxious to maximise their time enjoying themselves, many people disregard the rules. With little thought for the emergency services that may need to make their way down a narrow road, the local residents who need to use or leave their driveway, and the shops who are dependent on their customers being able to park in their parking spaces. My hope is this. That everyone has a great bank holiday weekend. Enjoy the (hopefully good) weather, go support the local businesses, and enjoy the stunning scenery that this country has to offer. But do it respectfully. Park where you are supposed to, for the amount of time permitted. (Enjoy the attached video from the last bank holiday weekend)

You know what to do Rishi
Is there a case to make 29th February a bank holiday? And I'm not just saying that because I've had to put up with Sam Dears all day. There have been calls for further bank holidays in the UK for years. We have a lower than average amount of public holidays (8 per year compared to an average of 12 in the EU) with most of these falling closely together. Months can pass in the UK without a bank holiday and then 2 or 3 come at once. We wouldn't see the benefit for 4 years, but surely the Government could score an easy PR win by declaring 29th February an additional bank holiday. Enjoy your leap day, however you spend it.

Do you work on Bank Holidays? It's bank holiday in Ireland today, hence the question. If I have clients and an audience outside Ireland that does not share the same holiday (like today) I often find myself doing some work. (And by the way, I am ok with that). It's part of the rhythm of catering to a global clientele. 🌍 Do you have a rule here? #WorkLifeBalance #GlobalBusiness #BankHolidayThoughts

With a two Spring Bank Holidays not being far away, it got us thinking about how these long weekends can best be used by business owners. Naturally the temptation is to plough on as normal (if you do need to work across them) but given that they are days that other people aren’t working there are actually a few things that you could focus on that will help you get ahead of the curve. Today we’ve detailed a few options that you could focus your time on for the next Bank Holiday that could seriously impact your business. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but think about the important but non urgent tasks on your list and focus you time on those. https://lnkd.in/eDAse468
