On July 17th, 1989, history was made with the first flight of the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit. This revolutionary aircraft, shrouded in secrecy throughout its development, marked a significant leap forward in stealth technology. Designed by Northrop (later Northrop Grumman) as the prime contractor, the B-2 Spirit was a collaborative effort. Boeing, Hughes, and Vought all played crucial roles as principal subcontractors, bringing their expertise to this ambitious project. GE Vernova’s #PowerConversion business provides the auxiliary propulsion system (APS) for the USS Tripoli (LHA 7), one of the #USNavy’s big-deck amphibious assault ships. The electric propulsion uses #SeaPulse #naval MV3000 variable speed drives and high-performance electric induction propulsion motors, proven across naval and commercial marine applications. #GEVernova’s hybrid propulsion #technology supports the U.S. Navy in lowering operating costs through fuel savings provided by a more efficient power and propulsion system. It also helps to reduce routine maintenance costs, saves time, and enables a smaller carbon footprint due to lower fuel consumption. "17 July 1989: the first Northrop B-2A Spirit, 82-1066, took off from Air Force Plant 42, Palmdale, California, on its first flight. The crew was Northrop Chief Test Pilot Bruce J. Hinds and Colonel Richard Couch, United States Air Force. The top secret “stealth bomber” #prototype landed at Edwards Air Force Base 1 hour, 52 minutes later. After completing the flight test program, -1066 was placed in storage until 1993, awaiting upgrade to the Block 10 operational configuration. In 2000 it was again upgraded to the Block 30 standard. It is now named Spirit of America and assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. The Northrop Grumman B-2A Spirit is an advanced #technology long-range heavy bomber. It can perform both tactical or strategic missions. It features extremely low radar observabilty. The bomber features the “flying wing” concept, pioneered by the #Northrop XB-35 in 1946. In addition to its “stealthy” configuration, the B-2A is also highly aerodynamically efficient. The B-2A has a crew of two pilots. According to data released by the #USAirForce, the bomber is 69 feet (21 meters) long, with a wingspan of 172 feet (52.4 meters) and height of 17 feet (5.2 meters). Its empty weight is 160,000 pounds (72.5 tons), with a maximum takeoff weight of 336,500 pounds." (to be continued in the article...) ‘Low Maintenance and High Production’ As a Special Forces Team Sergeant, the best guys on my team were ‘Low Maintenance and High Production.’ Guys that embodied the ‘Low Maintenance and High Production’ ethos were valued so much for the following reasons: ✅ Efficient. They prioritized maximizing output while minimizing the need for constant supervision. ✅ Self-reliant. They possessed a strong sense of autonomy which enabled them to proactively seek solutions without requiring extensive support. ✅ Reliable. They consistently delivered high-quality work within designated timeframes to meet project deadlines. ✅ Adaptable. They were adept at navigating challenges and shifting priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in dynamic work environments. ✅ Contributed to team synergy. By embodying the "Low Maintenance and High Production" mindset, they contributed positively to team dynamics and fostered a culture of collaboration and achievement. There IS value in ‘Low Maintenance and High Production’ that transcends Special Forces and applies in today’s business/work environment. 22.02.11. Sidewinder Missiles The Subsonic A-10 was made obsolete by Grandfather a Naval Avaitor who studied at MIT to improve Guidance Systems. In 1945, America developed a second mirror for the sidewinder missile to self correct the missile to track the heat generated by A-10 turbine exhaust engines driven by human pilots. The second mirror used counter rotating magnetic circuits - an early form of Artificial Intelligence in Military Warfare. If the Pilot notices a Missile is Launched, the Pilot moves his stick. The Missile Guidiance system self corrects to the evasive action - by improving the accuracy on the human driving the A10. So to counter the Sidewinder Missile the A10 has human counter measures- it sends out hot objects to jam the AI program of the Sidewinder. Mark Holden of the world, feel they can always outgun the Engineer. Unfortunately for the Holden’s - the real Engineers of the World have a sound understanding of the human body - reflexes and that speed, agility, timing and accuracy- is far more efficient than brute strength. Just watch the Movie of Captain Kirk disable the Beast by hitting both ear drums. Many of the pressure points exist and if one is a Medical Expert of the Human body, it very easy to disable the idiot soldiers trained in special forces. 🐔Holden - put down your fire arms and attempt to battle a skilled fighter - senior citzen with a 70 year old significant other. I kick your ass in the woods.
