If there was ever a post that screamed, “Undoubtedly, there is hope for generations to come”, this is it. 👇 Children… They understood the assignment! I just finished picking up easily over 2,000 letters & cards of support written by children from Pre-K to Highschool. School’s in 5 surrounding counties of Fort Liberty (née Bragg), NC came together & answered the call. These letters will be sent in care packages to deployed personnel all around the world, within every branch of the military. Children - little ones! Many are military affiliated. Some even have a deployed parent. Many have no link to the military at all, but they wanted to help. Children did this. (Yes - I teared up.😭) An extraordinarily high request of support has come from active military units deployed overseas. Over a little more than 1 month, Operation Gratitude is fulfilling 20,000 requests for individual care packages as I type this. These are all organic requests - military leaders, FRG’s, Ombudsmen, FRSA’s, DRC’s, currently deployed personnel halfway around the world have personally reached out. Many of those requests look like: • “I have young soldiers facing some challenges during this deployment in the Middle East that they never expected. To make matters more challenging, they haven’t received 1 letter or parcel or anything at all. Nothing.” • “This deployment’s been extended a couple times now. It’s tough. We won’t be home for the holidays. My sailor’s need a huge morale boost.” • “We’re on special missions & could just really, really need a piece of home right now.” Need a reason to give? Nothing like being deployed and receiving one of these care packages and reading these letters/cards. I remember sitting in a group overseas and we each took turns reading the cards out loud and we would post a few of the best ones on our read board for everyone to see. Thank you for what you do to facilitate making it happen.
