At the end of 2023, approximately 117.3 million people were displaced globally because of persecution, conflict, violence and human rights violations. These individuals face immense challenges, including dangerous journeys, finding shelter, access to healthcare, and much more. World Refugee Day was established to honour refugees and raise awareness about their struggles. This year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees” underscores the importance of inclusion and support for refugees. As the world commemorates World Refugee Day, we at LexisNexis South Africa believe that advancing the rule of law is essential to protecting the rights and dignity of refugees. Through our legal resources, we can empower legal professionals to advocate for and uphold these rights. #LexisNexisZA #AdvancingAfricasRuleofLaw #WorldRefugeeDay

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency commissioned HiiL to investigate the relationship between #displacement and #justice through a #PeopleCentredJustice lens 🔬 Recognising justice as a fundamental right like shelter, food, and sanitation, the Justice Needs and Satisfaction (#JNS) study focused on understanding the experiences and needs of refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities to generate fair solutions to their legal challenges. The JNS helps inform evidence-based policies and programmes that foster social cohesion and economic development. This initiative aligns with UNHCR's shift in #Iraq from conflict response to long-term development, acknowledging that access to justice remains a constant priority throughout the transition. 💡📊Learn more and access the data: https://lnkd.in/en9mBxJc
