💡 How to Fit a Square Peg in a Round Hole: Make the Hole Bigger or Make the Peg Smaller 💡 Its hard to believe that Sony started in warn torn Japan as a small radio repair company. The company’s first product was an electric rice cooker which could barely do the one thing it was designed to do. Founded in 1946, Sony was known as Tokyo Tsushin Kenkyujo (TTK), despite facing multiple failures, Masaru Ibuka, Sony's visionary founder kept testing new products. After achieving modest success in Tape recorders. He recognized the importance of staying abreast of global electronics trends and seizing new opportunities. The breakthrough came when Ibuka learned about transistors in 1952, leading to the creation of TTK's successful TR-55 transistor radio. But it was the vision for the world's smallest transistor radio, the TR-63, that truly set Sony on a path to success. Recognizing the potential of the USA market, Sony took two critical steps. First, they rebranded from the less memorable TTK to Sony, derived from the Latin word "Sonus," meaning "sound." This new name perfectly encapsulated the essence of the company's focus on radios and sound technology. Secondly, the challenge of marketing the "Pocket Radio" TR-63 was ingeniously tackled. The radio was marketed as pocket radio, but it didn’t fit the typical businessman’s dress shirt pocket. To tackle this problem, Sony tailored custom-made shirts with slightly larger pockets for its sales team, ensuring that the TR-63 fit snugly and comfortably. This clever move not only made the product more appealing but also created a buzz around its innovative design and portability. The success of the TR-63 marked Sony's entry into the USA market and set the stage for their iconic Walkman, one of the company's most beloved and successful products. This story serves as a reminder that sometimes, to fit a square peg in a round hole, you need to think outside the box. #Innovation #Adaptation #Sony #SuccessStory #ThinkOutsideTheBox

Once a week I plan to showcase some of the starț ups that I meet and come across. Even if we don’t invest I am introduced to so many incredible teams and forward thinking technologies. First one: https://lnkd.in/gHBi8sU9 Powerfoyle Exeger WHAT THEY DO: an ultra thin, flexible solar panel technology for consumer devices that allows trickle charging both indoors and outdoors. USE CASE: remote controls, headphones, devices, and more. The technology ultimately negates the need for charging a battery. - 3m is launching another headset for worksites that will not need to be charged. THE FUTURE: this technology is primarily for lower load battery needs but I am most fascinated by the opportunity in retail. Think digital displays that don’t need batteries or electrical hook ups.

https://lnkd.in/e5qKZthV AOTO Electronics apparently cannot handle any feedback. Not only my comments, but also from Dave Haynes were removed. We are talking about a tier 1 LED manufacturer, that is displaying a weak way of dealing with feedback. Therefore AOTO Electronics what you show in your post is not a naked-eye 3D LED display. It is a normal LED Wall with great content, which gives you a 3D perspective, when seen from the sweet spot. #Behonestaboutyourproduct
