With the increase in greenhouse gases, heat domes have formed around many cities. This leads to extended heat waves like we are seeing in Saudi Arabia, India, Greece, the USA and other places. With the heat domes, the cities stay warmer at night. This is when the body is supposed to repair itself. But, it simply does not cool down enough to do so for more-and-more people. That is why we are seeing thousands of people dying from the heat all over the world. This is likely to be the new normal for a while. https://lnkd.in/gdPJZNfj

During a heatwave, the number of “heat-related deaths” – where exposure to heat either causes or significantly contributes to a death – tends to increase. For example, people can suffer from direct consequences of heat, such as heat stroke and exhaustion. #heatwaves #globalwarming #climatechange

Unless we address climate change you can expect to see more of these deadly events. When wet bulb temperatures reach a heat index of 55 C then humans cannot perform normal outdoor activity, past this point survivability starts to drop precipitously. Think about the implications of this. Children can’t play outside. Any kind of manual labor such as construction or farming becomes impossible. In urban areas where we don’t have central air buildings become ovens. Imagine what happens if you experience a brown out during such a period.

I remembered your post, Marion Arand, when I saw this. 🙂 Hungarian usually calls a glittering reflection of the sun on water like this a 'golden bridge' (aranyhíd; mostly at sunset), and if it's the moon reflected, we say 'silver bridge' (ezüsthíd). I would call this a silver bridge though... and it was early(ish) in the morning on Saturday (10 Feb). I love the lines in this pic. We had 17C that day. Impossibly warm for February (and March, and partly also April). While the UK had snow recently. It was great for a nice long walk along the Danube, but all the while I had to keep telling myself it's actually February. Whatever will our summer be like? 40C or soaking wet? Btw, this mild weather (it was 12C today) is bad for crops. Farmers will probably have to use more chemicals to fight pests and diseases in the spring. These increasingly extreme fluctuations in temperatures and atmospheric conditions are giving more and more people headaches, circulatory problems, blood pressure fluctuations, and even a temporary flair-up in autoimmune conditions. Birds started behaving differently when the mild weather arrived. I saw a nuthatch and a sparrow hawk from my sofa in a tree in front of the house a few days ago... the former for the second time, the latter for the first time. Will I be stuck inside again in the summer and constantly running the AC to be able to function? Burning some more fossil fuels, probably. #litranslators #hungarian #climatechange #sustainability

We know that the sun has been slow to come out this Summer, but as we feel some hot days are just around the corner, we bring you a series that de-bunks sun myths, so that you can be as well equipped as possible with sun safety this season. Sun Myth #1 - Sun damage is not possible on windy, cloudy or cool days. FALSE. You can get sun damage on windy, cloudy and cool days, as sun damage is caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, not temperature. A cool or overcast day in summer can have similar UV levels to a warm, sunny day. Sun damage is also possible on cloudy days, as UV radiation can penetrate some clouds, and may even be more intense due to reflection off the clouds. #sunsafety #sunmyths

- Climate change - Biodiversity conservation, - International relation on environmental issues - Effective implementation of multilateral environmental agreements
The loss and damage in the mountainous countries like Nepal have compunded impacts of glacier melting GOLFs and erratic rainfall particularly in the downstream as ecosystems are fragile and mountainous are so vulnerable to landslides
