A comprehensive independent review has confirmed that graphite sourced from our Kookaburra Project, located on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, is ideal for use as a feedstock for high quality battery anode material to serve the fast-growing global EV markets. The review confirms existing data is sufficient for us to commence a Pre-Feasibility Study for KGP (due Q4 2024), targeting production of graphite concentrate at production rates 70-185% higher than those in the 2017 Feasibility Study. We have appointed Stephen McEwen as Project Development Manager to oversee the Kookaburra PFS, which is due for delivery in Q4 2024. The review allows us to fast-track downstream Battery Anode Material strategy with an integrated study set to commence in coming weeks. CEO Jonathon Trewartha said: "Our Kookaburra Graphite Project is an advanced graphite development project, with continued data reviews undertaken by management demonstrating that it is more advanced than I expected when I first joined Lincoln seven months ago. The presence of substantial quantities of micronised test work and high quality product samples fast tracks our plans to advance the project to production. Previous pilot plant test work undertaken in China and completed in 2018 used samples from not only the Kookaburra Gully Deposit but also the Koppio and Kookaburra Gully Extended deposit, giving a high confidence that the results we already possess are representative. This enables us to complete our Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) for KGP with no further test work required, underpinning our aim to significantly expand graphite concentrate production rates in an updated PFS Study on track for Q4 2024. There is strong policy and funding support from various levels of Australian government for Australian critical minerals projects and the associated downstream supply chain. Lincoln considers itself ideally positioned to benefit from this policy and support and aims to work closely with government to see the rapid development of our compelling high grade project. Our latest round of sampling at our Cabbage Spot Silica Sand Project in Western Australia has identified multiple large areas of High Purity Silica Sand (HPSS). Results from 43 surface samples have returned ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ขโ ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐ต๐ด%, ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ต๐ด.๐ฒ%. The best result returned an in-situ grade of 99.4% SiOโ. We are currently conducting beneficiation testwork to determine the potential of Cabbage Spot silica sand for high-tech and photovoltaic applications. Managing Director Andrew Haythorpe said: โOur most recent sampling efforts have revealed multiple significant areas of High Purity Silica Sand, marking a significant stride in our exploration journey. The assays from 43 surface samples have impressively returned SiOโ grades above 98%, with an average purity of 98.6%, clearly demonstrating the superior quality of our silica sand. Particularly striking was our best result, showing an in-situ purity of 99.4% SiOโ, which highlights the top-tier quality of our project. We've now moved onto beneficiation testwork to explore the full potential of the Cabbage Spot silica sand for use in high-tech and photovoltaic applications. Because lithium, arguably the โmost strategic critical raw materialโ, is instrumental in the transition to #climateneutrality. ๐ Project info This high-TRLย #horizoneuropeย Innovation Action targets โCost-effective processing and refining of lithium into lithium hydroxide from strategic European multi-mineral lithium hard-rock projectsโ. LITHOSโs meta-objective is to unleash Europeโs full Li-hard-rock ore potential (total: 8.8 Mt Li2O) so as to become self-sufficient by 2030โ35 in terms of made-in-Europe LiOHยทH2O. LITHOS is coordinated byย VTTย (Pรคivi Kinnunen). The consortium includes key players in the lithium value chain, ranging from Finnish Minerals Group - Suomen Malmijalostus Oy,ย KU Leuvenย (SIM2 KU Leuven),ย BRGM,ย Metso,ย Sibanye-Stillwaterโs Keliber lithium project,ย Technical University of Crete,ย Savannah Resources PLC andย Imerys. The project is set to start in January 2024. ๐บ More background on LITHOS The (almost signed) ECย #Criticalrawmaterialsactย (CRMA) sets โbenchmarks along the strategic raw materials value chain and for the diversification of EU suppliesโ. LITHOS directly contributes to the 1st and 2nd CRMA benchmarks (10% domestic extraction; 40% domestic processing). LITHOS processes and refines the ores from three key projects in terms of domestic battery-grade LiOHยทH2O production: two spodumene-bearing pegmatite cases (Keliber, Kaustinen, Finland; Savannahโs Barroso Lithium Project, Portugal) and one Rare-Metal Granite (RMG) case (Imerysโ Beauvoir mine in France). LITHOS expands and tailors the bespoke Keliber & Metso flowsheet, which was developed for regular-grade spodumene ores, so that (1) the cut-off grade for spodumene ores is reduced, resulting in larger Li reserves, while (2) allowing the commercialisation of lower-grade pegmatite & RMG deposits. LITHOS triggers innovations along the value chain โ mineral processing, concentrate pre-treatment & hydrometallurgical refining โ allowing to deal with different levels and types of impurities in non-spodumene Li minerals (lepidolite & petalite). LITHOS gives specific attention to closed-loop water systems in the mineral processing. The overall CO2 emissions will be 50% lower than todayโs benchmark (production of spodumene concentrate in Australia & refining in China). DLE update: 26 June 2024. The interesting bit for me is Koch saying itโs willing to give a โperformance guaranteeโ that its adsorbent DLE will work on any brine in the world. In my view, that โperformance guaranteeโ is a powerful marketing tool and seems to be a factor influencing Standard Lithiumโs decision to select Koch LSS LiPro DLE over its own internally developed proprietary LiSTR. If you recall, LiSTR made higher concentration raw eluate than LSS Li-Pro. But impurity rejection was better using Koch DLE. All the details are in the DFS Technical Report. Link ๐ in comments. So, in my view, it appears that superior impurity rejection and a โperformance guaranteeโ by Koch were important factors in selecting Koch LSS Li-Pro over LiSTR which produced significantly higher concentrations of raw eluate. Iโm watching and waiting with baited breath to see comparative raw eluate concentrations and impurity rejection data from Sunresin DLE and Koch DLE at Anson Paradox projects in Utah. And comparative raw eluate and impurity rejection data from Eramet at its newly commissioned DLE lithium project in Argentina. Remember also that some #DLE #lithium projects were expected to deliver commercial production in 2024. They still have 6 months left to deliver. Hereโs hoping ๐ค
