To be at the forefront of TV, technological innovation is essential. To innovate in technology, work in R&D and partnering with the right people is necessary. From the outside it may seem that MotoGP (Dorna Sports) and Formula 1(Formula One Managament) are competitors, even enemies. Recent years have made it clear to us that this is not true. If anything, the two companies are partners in many aspects of the business. Television broadcasts are an essential part of their business and as this news shows, they have no problem working together with each other to improve the viewer's experience. #F1Innovation #MotoGPInspiration #TVTechnology #GyroCamera #NewPerspectives #F1TVInnovation #MotorsportTech #InnovativeCameras #RacingAngles #F1andMotoGPCollaboration https://lnkd.in/d6qnvBTD

Following Liberty Media's acquisition of an 86% ownership stake in Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder for MotoGP, the idea of Formula 1 and MotoGP holding joint race weekends has surfaced. Lewis Hamilton recently expressed his support for such an event, noting it would be interesting to see the two leading racing series come together. Since taking over Formula 1 in 2017, Liberty Media has been recognised for enhancing the sport's profile and value. The joint ownership of both F1 and MotoGP could lead to new possibilities for fan engagement and event formats, though the practicality of such events, including venue suitability, will require careful evaluation. As we anticipate this possible integration, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Could this be the future of motorsport entertainment? What do you think are the key challenges and opportunities? #F1 #MotoGP #LibertyMedia #Motorsport #LewisHamilton Pit Debrief

An interesting M&A development from the world of motorsport, with Liberty Media acquiring MotoGP in a deal valued at £3.6bn. Liberty Media will be hoping to replicate the success they have enjoyed with Formula 1, which they acquired back in 2017 and have since driven forward with a significant increase in audience size. There are, of course the various anti-trust filings you would expect in a deal of this size - apparently EU, UK, Brazil and Australia in this instance (with FDI filings in Italy and Spain). Leaving aside any regulatory speedbumps (ahem), the parties are hoping to close by the end of the year.

It was another tough year for fans of Ferrari in Formula 1 this season, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull cruising to both the driver and constructor championships in record-breaking fashion. Given that Ferrari was founded in Italy, Italian-Canadian sports fans are especially fond of F1. Not only do nearly 2 in 3 F1 fans that watch the sport in other languages watch it in Italian, but Italian-Canadian sports fans are also 5x more likely than the average Canadian adult to follow every race of the F1 season. Hopefully, they'll have more to cheer about next year!
