Founder of Happy and Childless | Coach Supporting Childless not by Choice Employees in the Workplace | Business Partnership Lead at Baby Loss Charity Aching Arms
Want to understand how a stigmatised experience together with a stigmatised identity can significantly impact on performance in the workplace? Take a listen to the latest "Happy and Childless" podcast episode - Putting Childlessness on the Workplace Agenda. https://lnkd.in/eqrSWzSv Thank you Dr Krystal Wilkinson and Robin Hadley for such an insightful conversation around childlessness in the workplace. It is indeed so much about the absent narratives and the complexity of being childless not by choice which is a stigmatised and misunderstood experience together with a stigmatised identity. I know from experience that the isolation experienced in the workplace when coping with involuntary childlessness is so painful and the vulnerability which is felt to both speak out or stay silent is at times paralysing. It is so important to share conversations like these and use the invaluable research of Dr Krystal Wilkinson and Robin Hadley to raise awareness of this challenge and encourage more empathetic leadership and inclusivity. If I can share more of my story with you to help change culture within the workplace, offer support or raise awareness within your business, please do get in touch. #cnbc #childlessnotbychoice #involuntarychildlessness

Key takeaways: - Dependent care policies not only support parents but can also improve team productivity and organizational success. - It's good to have policies in place, and moving beyond having policies on paper includes actively encouraging their use. - Creating a supportive culture for work-family balance can lead to higher employee retention and performance. Our co-founder Nyree Ambarchian loved chatting to Alexandra Stevens about all things flexible work. Some of our favourite bits... 🤷♀️ What is flexible working anyway? It's broad. And it's time to de-rule it. 🦕 In our sector, it's a choice employers make to embrace flexible working or not. 🙄 Work is really, really important, but you can't put it before your actual child. 💩 Your capacity for bullshit is limited once you're a parent. If there is too much bs coming from your boss, it stops adding up. ❓ Who made up the 'rules' of work? Was it Lord Sugar? 🌳 It's about getting the work done, not spending a set time at your desk. 📢 We complain a lot about lack of diversity in this sector, if we wanted to fix it, we could. 🎉 Episode Four of 'Balancing Comms with Caregiving' is here! 👶 This week I spoke to the very lovely Nyree Ambarchian from Jack & Grace | B Corp Certified, an agency that's leading the way when it comes to its flexible working offering. We spoke about: 💡 How to define 'flexible working' and how offering flexible working can literally mean giving someone the option of being able to work. 💰 The importance of salary transparency in equality at work. 💪 How being a working parent is really bloody hard... but how it can actually make you better at your job! 🙏 Nyree, you were amazing to talk to, thank you! 👂Listen below: Spotify: https://ow.ly/9ppw50SOYIB YouTube: https://ow.ly/SH8J50SOYIC PRCA Reuben Sinclair | Sales, Marketing, PR, Data and Digital Recruitment #ParentsInPR #FlexibleWorking #WorkingParents

"""So many therapy education models for autistic people especially come from this place of, 'We're going to try to fix you. We're going to try to fix these problems.' And we, as an organization and as a self-advocate community, really believe that there's nothing to be fixed, that autistic people and neurodivergent people are perfect the way they are. Now, they may need supports to be successful, but we all need supports to be successful. We all need something. We all have gaps. We all have talents and gifts. That's just the human experience."" In our latest Thinking Inside the Box episode, we sat down with Andrea Herron, MA, PHR, SHRM-CP, Head of People at WebMD, an HR executive leader, author of "There's an Elephant in Your Office," and host of the award-winning podcast, ‘The HR Scoop’. Andrea was recently selected as one of Ragan’s Top Women in Wellness and HR, an Agent of Change in American Healthcare Leader magazine, and a Top Leader in DEIB by Mogul. She lives in Portland, OR with her family and french bulldog Norman. Our conversation began, as many do, with a candid discussion regarding how life is different today than it was in 2020. When the conversation pivoted to mental health, I was eager to learn more. Prior to her role at WebMD, Andrea was the Vice President, Human Resources at the Oregon Humane Society. Clearly drawn to organizations making a bigger impact in society, I was curious where that inspiration came from. And how it has informed her professional practice.
