International football squads are like most companies' teams. They're always unbalanced. (Yes, it's shoehorned Euro24 football analogies time). Countries have to make the best of what they've got. So even in a squad like England's which has lots of talent, Southgate is drowning in attacking midfielders but short in defence. He even had to go and headhunt a couple of people from the Irish squad a few years ago. And recruitment's similar. Much as most managers would love to have a spare on the bench for every position, they have to cut their cloth according to financial reality.. 🤬 It is beyond disgusting to see, what a huge club such as Borussia Dortmund is doing here. Bringing in weapons producer Rheinmetall as a "Champion Partner" to the club is even in the deeply corrupt world of football the worst I have seen so far and goes far beyond what I could have imagined to happen (I was shocked by Bremen & Wiesenhof...). 🫡 The wording used by CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke unfortunately is in line with the current state of mind in Germany, that imports the war mindset from the United States, while framing it as "peace building". 🌎 A country that is funding Genocide with tax money and keeps conflicts such as in Ukraine going by telling BS-narratives instead of being a force for peace between the blocks of course opens the door to the greedy private sector, to also take their stake or money from it. We are heading straight towards a US 2.0 in Germany, where military spending increases steadily, the army does advertising and social budgets are being cut down. Embarrassing. ⚽ I will support Real Madrid C.F. at Wembley this Saturday in the champions league final. No tiny bit of support for people who take money from war criminals.
