📢 Attention municipal professionals! Unlock invaluable sustainability insights with our latest report on the application of the SDG Impact Assessment Tool in Nordic municipalities! Municipalities play a vital role in the journey towards sustainable development, particularly in the Nordic countries. While many already actively integrate the SDGs, there's a clear need for practical tools and approaches. Last year we started a pilot project aimed to bridge this gap by allowing municipalities to test the SDG Impact Assessment Tool and share their experiences. Building upon positive results from the municipality Strängnäs kommun in Sweden, the project extended to additional municipalities in Sweden and Finland: Kungälvs kommun, Tjörns Kommun, Botkyrka kommun, and Korsholms kommun - Mustasaaren kunta - Korsholm Municipality. The participating municipalities received guidance from SDSN Northern Europe and engaged in peer-to-peer learning throughout the project. 💡 The findings underscore the tool's potential to drive sustainable development at the municipal level. I'm excited to share that I recently completed the course "Measuring Progress Towards the Sustainable Development Goals" offered by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Bertelsmann Stiftung, through edX. The course provided valuable insights into the importance of measuring and tracking progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations. These interconnected Goals aim to end poverty, promote economic prosperity, ensure social equity, and protect the environment, leaving no one behind. Through the course, I learned about the annual Sustainable Development Report and its SDG Index and Dashboards, which use a combination of official and unofficial data and indicators to assess each country's progress on the SDGs. The course covered the value of such measurement tools, the different types of data sources, and the technical steps involved in constructing an SDG Index. I am looking forward to applying these learnings in my work and contributing to the global sustainable development movement. #leavenoonebehind #UNSDG #Learning

As part of the State Library Victoria Barrett Reid Scholarship into Sustainability and Public Libraries, Jessica Anderson and I are on the look out for a skilled sustainability consultant (funded through the scholarship) to assist us in applying and implementing our research findings in sustainability frameworks and accreditation applicable to public libraries. We are aiming to develop a comprehensive and impactful document to support, empower and guide Victorian public libraries in their sustainability projects and efforts. We are seeking a short-term consultant with a strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and experience in developing one or more of the following: sustainability strategies, quality standards, frameworks, or action plans. We would also love to hear from those with experience leading sustainability certification or accreditation processes within organisations. This morning's Navigation Sustainability Together conversation was about getting funding for R&D. This is what I heard: * government grants are hard to win but come with fewer strings than bank loans and VC cash injection - makes it easier to do "R" and bring in "green" elements * grant funding in UK and Europe highly competitive - need a great application to win * amazing how many people don't read the application forms correctly * people reading your application may not understand sustainability - need to reference well known concepts such as net zero goals etc * if you collaborate for R&D, make sure your collaborators share your values * don't forget there has to be a strong business case - "common good is not good enough" * attend the seminars and webinars provided by the funders - essential to understand processes, dates etc * some funders lean more to social outcomes such as diversity and equity, than environmental impact - ask questions to find this out! Recently, I Got an opportunity to Complete a course on Introduction to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the United Nations as part of the UTS BUILD program through edX! This experience deepened my understanding of the 17 SDGs and their critical role in shaping a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable world. Key takeaways: Holistic Approach: The SDGs encompass social, economic, and environmental dimensions, reinforcing that sustainable progress requires integrated solutions. Global & Local Action: Change starts at the grassroots level. Collaboration between governments, businesses, and communities is essential for achieving impactful outcomes.
