Most hiring managers will look at your LinkedIn before interviewing you, That's your first impression, What first impression do you want to make? Your LinkedIn profile should be a clear, professional, head & shoulder shot. So I have been noticing this for a long time now, that out of all the connections that I have on LinkedIn, about 30% of them are using a very inappropriate photo as their profile picture. someone has put up a Mirror Selfie, Posing very informal, in extremely informal clothes etc etc. Believe me, It gives a very wrong and negative First Impression to the recruiter. Not just me, even LinkedIn has an article on the best practices on choosing a linkedIn profile photo. Cutting it short, Your photo should reflect your industry, role, and target audience, and convey your professionalism and competence. Dress as you would for a meeting, interview, or event in your field, Avoid casual, flashy, or inappropriate outfits that might send the wrong signal or create a mismatch with your profile. Your photo should show your personality and make you look friendly, confident, and trustworthy. Smile and look at the camera, as if you are making eye contact with your viewers. So, the next time you're setting a profile picture, take care of these key points. The lady told me it has closed buh she will reopen the form in next five minutes for me and then she will close it . . . Did you just say 5mins- I didn't take less than 1min 38secs, I fill the form and she closed it . . . Buh guess what? As a Career Practitioner, a large part of my role involves reviewing 🔎 my client's LinkedIn profiles to ensure they are optimised and best-practice. I often see LinkedIn profile photos that might not give the best first impression to potential employers, recruiters or connections. 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳: Would you present yourself at an interview with sunglasses on 😎 or wearing a hat 🤠? Probably not. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼: 🌟 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 & 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Ensure your face is clearly visible and you are not standing too far away from the camera 📸 🌟 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 & 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹: Ensure your eyes are visible, avoid wearing sunglasses or a hat and look straight ahead at the camera. Recruiter tip: Update your LinkedIn photo! You can do this with your phone. Key tips: -Set your phone on a window sill with the front-facing camera on so you can see yourself. -Sit at a distance where the camera shows your shoulders and head in the frame. - Set your phone to video mode (if you have cinematic mode, use that). -Record one-minute of different head tilts and smiles. Make sure you look at the camera lens and not your screen. -Think happy thoughts! Everyone can tell a fake smile, so think about the things you love as you smile 😊 -Go back through the video and screenshot any of your favorite still frames. -Edit your photo as necessary, but keep it minimal. -Make sure your background is neutral or blurred out.
