On Saturday The Courier-Mail highlighted some key statistics from our latest survey on bullying in Queensland schools. ➡ 19.3% of students experience regular physical bullying. ➡ Almost 30% face hurtful online comments, with 12% dealing with it multiple times a month. ➡ 51% of students feel they can't reduce bullying at their school. These statistics are concerning, but we’re determined to bring about positive change. Through our Stand Up for Respect campaign thousands of students are already committing to make a difference. Because together, we can take action to help put an end to bullying. 💪

At the Stand-Up Project, our analysis of Google search terms used by families to find our services reveals deep insights into the concerns of parents and carers. One frequent query stands out: "How to teach your child not to be bullied." This common misconception underscores a critical point: Bullying is never the fault of the child, and no behaviour or characteristic justifies mistreatment. It's a poignant reminder that expecting children to change their unique qualities to avoid bullying can unfairly diminish their spirit. Bullying is a societal issue that requires a collective response. It’s crucial for everyone, including peers, to foster a supportive community that actively rejects harmful behaviours. By empowering all children to stand against bullying and educating them to respect and embrace diversity, we can build a safer environment. Together, let's commit to promoting kindness and responsibility in our school communities. For more resources and guidance on how to combat bullying and support your child, visit our website at www.thestandupproject.com or contact us directly. Let’s make a difference together.

Learning and education is so important to young people …every one I have met over 30 years has wanted to learn something. It is key that we find out what prevents young people learning …punishing, fining, bullying tactics will not work it never has….it causes greater barriers that will impact more on young people lives ..and in time the community especially those who have least support and opportunities, who feel they dont belong, who don’t feel safe ..attendance at school has not gone down since covid because young people don’t want to learn…it’s much deeper than that …think carefully if we don’t want young people anger or self harm and suicides to increase. #safeguard #listen #prevention #opportunities

Addressing Persistent Bullying in Schools Bullying is a global challenge within the education system. One of the most concerning aspects of bullying is its prevalence. A report by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) shows almost one out of every three students has been bullied by their peers at school. A similar study by the Federal Ministry of Education and UNICEF also indicates that physical violence accounts for 85% of school victimisation, aside from other forms of bullying. https://lnkd.in/enY9ZVcM
