🗻 Ain’t no mountain high enough 🗻   What an incredible event! The BUD Leaders team was honoured to attend the The UK Black Business Entrepreneurs Conference today.     This inspiring event provided a platform for black entrepreneurs to showcase their success stories and share their experiences to inspire and empower others who may face similar challenges in their entrepreneurial journey.   The day was filled with inspirational stories from black business founders Tevin Tobun , Byron Dixon OBE and Valerie Brandes. We enjoyed the discussion around growing and scaling a business by Lord Dr Michael Hastings CBE and the stereotypes and challenges persistent racial biases, navigating corporate supplier diversity by Nedra Dickson. Further conversations revolved around specific challenges faced by black entrepreneurs, such as access to finance, discrimination, access to the public and private sector supply chain by Henry Bonsu, Theresa Harrison, Lucy Quist, Derek Redmond OLY., Vusi Thembekwayo. What inspired you to start your Black-owned business, and how does it reflect your unique vision and values? The People's Voice Creative Agency was founded with a distinct vision aimed at addressing the need for personalized and impactful learning experiences. Motivated by a leadership statement crafted almost five years ago, which emphasizes being a leader who develops others, the agency strives to go beyond conventional training methods. Recognizing that individuals require more than cookie-cutter approaches, The People's Voice focuses on providing capacity-building resources and vertical development. Through group learning opportunities and personal branding resources available at my personal website www.lacimckinney.com, I am dedicated to actualizing my commitment to fostering growth and development in others. Can you share a standout moment or achievement that you're particularly proud of in your journey as a Black business owner?  A defining moment in The People's Voice Creative Agency unfolded during the challenging times of COVID-19. Embarking on the journey of starting a business is often viewed as half the battle. Amid the pandemic, when many businesses faced setbacks, my decision to pivot demonstrated unwavering commitment to my ultimate goal. Overcoming the fear of imperfection and persisting in the pursuit of my vision exemplifies the tenacity that sets my business apart, making this a standout moment in my entrepreneurial journey. In what ways do you contribute to empowering other Black entrepreneurs, and what advice would you give to those aspiring to start their own businesses?  I am dedicated to empowering fellow Black entrepreneurs, by contributing through various avenues. Sharing relevant content geared towards enhancing leadership skills serves as a simple yet impactful way to support others on their entrepreneurial journey. Beyond that, my commitment extends to sharing valuable resources with entrepreneurial besties, including information on grants and business-building tools. My former involvement on the Impact Ventures Board, the Dallas Entrepreneurs Center Ambassador program committee, and contributing to the launch of Dallas Start Up Week's inaugural Disrupt Dallas Event for Black and Brown founders underscores my commitment to fostering a supportive ecosystem.
