Today we’re showcasing 3 innovators in Ireland selected to present at LSI Europe ‘24 in Portugal: 1. Declan Soden — Mirai Medical → Its ePORE therapy is a unique precision therapy platform that targets and destroy tumor tissue without harming surrounding healthy tissue. The minimally invasive technology delivers pulsed electrical fields that create pores in the cell membrane of tumor cells, catalyzing cellular death. Mirai's technology has been developed for external (skin) and internal (endoscopic) tumor treatment. 2. Finbar (Barry) Dolan — VERSONO MEDICAL LTD → Developing an intravascular ultrasonic platform to improve the crossing of severe occlusions in the peripheral vasculature. The device will prepare a working lumen to support endovascular therapy in patients with chronic total occlusions (CTOs) and critical limb ischemia (CLI). 3. Stephen Cox — InVera Medical → Developing a catheter-based therapy for chronic venous disease. The device uses non-thermal energy to disrupts the inner vessel lining, resulting in natural scarring and vessel closure that diverts blood flow away from diseased vessels. Jordi Martorell, CEO & Co-Founder, Aortyx → Is developing a biomimetic, bioresorbable endovascular patch that is deployed via an endovascular catheter. The patch is designed to cover an aortic tear, stop false lumen blood flow, and promote natural repair and bio-integration at the tear site. 2. Oriol Iborra Egea, CEO & Co-Founder, NIMBLE Diagnostics → The NIMBLE System, is a first-in-class, non-invasive, non-ionizing microwave-based technology that enables cardiologists to obtain objective data about the status of coronary stents. This allows cardiologists to take control of their patients with heart failure, providing objective data through a convenient, non-invasive technology, aiming to save millions of lives. 3. Rubén Molina, CEO & Co-Founder, Innitius → Develops a new technology (Torsional Waves) for the numerical and objective quantification of cervical consistency. This technology is reproducible between different users and will be used for the diagnosis of any pathology related to changes in the consistency of cervical tissue in women in the different stages of life globally. The time 'window' is closing, so if you have not already, please vote for Veritie as 'New Innovation of the Year award' in the Innovation Awards backed by Make UK, NatWest, the IoD and Innovate UK. Veritie displaces chemistry with photonics and Machine Learning, to allow the analysis of urine to avoid invasive procedures (e.g., blood tests and cystoscopy). This will reduce costs, improve convenience and reduce barriers to screening participation. Veritie is using Raman Spectroscopy and Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) to deliver low-cost, non-invasive IVD for high-incidence diseases at the point-of-need to achieve detection beyond current standard-of-care. Importantly, Veritie is following a data-focussed path that will lead to the regionalisation then personalisation of In Vitro Diagnostics ('IVD'). IMU Recognizes Movement Trajectories Of Lab Rats Behavioral tests in mice are usually done before clinical trials. However, it is often time-consuming for researchers to observe and analyze their behaviors and responses. In response to this situation, and in conjunction with the current rapid development of IMUs, researchers in Hong Kong have conceptualized an inertial measurement unit (IMU)-based sensor for capturing experimental mouse movements. A new combined segmentation method consisting of fixed window segmentation, adaptive window segmentation and a preliminary state classifier for mouse behavior recognition was also proposed, which significantly improved the classification accuracy of lab rat behavior.

The in-silico clinical trials to validate our in-silico testing approach on specific questions of interest for our medical device use cases, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and pulmonary artery pressure sensor (PAPS), have finally started. Our partners at Eindhoven University of Technology, Institut für Implantat Technologie und Biomaterialien e.V, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, in collaboration with our colleagues at ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) and Transilvania University of Brasov, will utilise 4 application scenarios, including: - Assessment of  the effects of convergent and divergent left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) shapes, and calcifications on clinical outcomes such as paravalvular leakage (PVL), on TAVI; - Evaluation of the effects of side branches of the pulmonary artery on device implantation and intravascular haemodynamics, and therefore the risk for device thrombosis, and comparison of hemodynamic and structural mechanical parameters between the chronic animal experiment and human application, for PAPS.
