Me and James Froggatt have teamed up for a hackathon challenge next Saturday! 🤩 We’re going to try and make a complete app in one day, all the way up to App Store submission! 💨🧑💻 I am taking the absolute fight to my 2024 of massive engineering growth and getting as many new experiences as possible! 💪 On top of that, I’m so excited to be coding alongside James again! 🤜🤛 👀 Keep a look out for how it goes! 👀 #hackathon #challenge

It was an absolute delight to participate (and WIN!) the Hackathon @Swipe (YC S21) with Dhruv Shrivastava . Everyone that competed had absolutely amazing ideas and I wish I could share the 1st place with everyone that made these insane projects. We started with a simple problem. Swipe has 200+ features! How do we make it easy for customers (and quite frankly us devs) to quickly search and navigate to the relevant feature? Well, we implemented keyword based global search in the app, which will automatically navigate to a particular section, then scroll to the searched view and perform an animation to highlight what the users were looking for. We created a special SwiftUI modifier to tag the views and everything is performed by this special modifier (library soon?). Excited to put this in Prod for everyone to try it out!

Earlier this month Toluwaleke Agunbiade, Tommy Wei, Joshua Obljubek-Thomas and I participated in the GDSC McMasterU Solution Challenge Hackathon. Together we created ByteBrain. ByteBrain is an accessible, byte-sized learning tool that aims to provide quality learning to high school kids worldwide whom the pandemic has hindered. ByteBrain is an education study tool that students can use to study a variety of subjects. Simply launch the app, and pick the subject you want to study. In each subject, you can pick the unit and specific chapter you wish to practice. ByteBrain will show you endless word problems related to the chapter. Once you have your answer, input your value into ByteBrain and repeat! Most of my work included making the front end of the app in Android Studio. 🏅 Hackathon Update: How I Missed the round but Still Got the Certificate! 😅 So, here’s the story: I was all geared up for the round of the great Appsec hackathon—laptop charged, snacks ready, and a playlist of motivational rap to keep the energy high. But, in a plot twist worthy of a Netflix series, life happened, and I couldn’t attend round two. But guess what? The universe (and the organisers) still blessed me with a certificate! 🎉 💻💡Lesson learned: Sometimes, your code doesn’t need to compile to make an impact. To all my fellow hackers who made it through all the rounds, you’re the real MVPs. And to everyone who missed a round (or two) but still got the swag, we’re living proof that showing up is half the battle... or sometimes, not even showing up at all! 😂 Looking forward to the next challenge—where I’ll actually attend all the rounds.
