I always find it fascinating how an individualized engineered solutions are often required to maximize the environmental stewardship at hydroelectric facilities for fish passage. Alberta is building a hydrogen transportation corridor between Calgary and Edmonton and Air Products is planning on two refueling stations that can service over 200 trucks per day. “In Canada, hydrogen is essential to decarbonizing transportation where heavy-duty vehicles travel long distances in extreme temperatures,” This is certainly a chicken and egg predicament: without refueling infrastructure there will be no trucks. Alberta is taking the lead. #ANDnotOR https://lnkd.in/eU7hKUe8

🌍 Big news for Varme Energy and another win for the Edmonton Metro Region! With $2.8M from Emissions Reduction Alberta's TIER program, Varme is one milestone closer to beginning construction for Canada’s first industrial-scale waste-to-energy facility with carbon capture. This project, led by Varme Energy, will convert landfill waste into clean electricity while capturing 185,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. The future facility will be built on Gibson Energy land in Strathcona County inside Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, with operations estimated to begin in 2027. A week full of good news, first from the UK and now from the US! 🌊🌊🌊 U.S. Representatives Nanette Barragan (CA-44) and Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) have introduced the Marine Energy Technologies Acceleration Act, which aims to invest $1 billion to advance marine energy toward full-scale commercialisation.
