Its been nearly seven years in the trenches of Marketing Mix Models (MMM) for me, and you'd think we'd be navigating flying cars by now. But alas, the landscape has remained fairly static. 🤷🏻♀️ Recently, a CMO threw me a curveball: "What do you mean by 90% R-squared?" I explained, "It means our model can predict 90% of the variance in the data." Expecting a nod of understanding, I was instead met with, "If you are predicting 90% of this, why are your recommendations not 90% accurate?" Oh, the joys of explaining statistics! 🤦🏻♀️ Here’s the kicker: Technology isn't a crystal ball; it’s a telescope. It helps us see further and clearer but doesn't replace the need for savvy navigation. MMMs give us invaluable insights, but they aren't a magical ROI machine. #MarketingMixModels #MMM #DataScience #MarketingInsights
