Why don’t we have a yearly contract with our employees? 🙄 The answer? Freedom. 🕊 Let me explain. If someone doesn’t want to work here anymore, forcing them to stay is a lose-lose for everyone. Why trap someone in a contract? Maybe they’ve found a better offer. Maybe they’re going back to post-grad school. Or maybe they just don’t feel fulfilled. That’s okay. Freedom of choice beats freedom of money. Life changes, and we respect that. When someone knows they’re free to leave, they’re more committed while they’re here. Isn’t that what we all want? So, no minimum contracts here. We value freedom over forced loyalty🤐 What do you think forced loyalty or freedom of choice? PS: Some of our employees have been with us for more than a year now, not because we want them to, but because they are happy to :)) 🤗 #Leadership #Hiring #CompanyCulture #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceFreedom #CareerGrowth #EmployeeWellbeing #HRInsights #BusinessEthics #LeadershipDevelopment #TrustAndTransparency #FreedomOfChoice #EmployeeRetention #WorkplaceMotivation #PositiveWorkEnvironment #EmployeeSatisfaction

Excellent read! Article includes insight into and history of psychological contract and thoughtful insights moving past a toxic ‘transactional’ attitude of our employees. Let’s instead commit to build modern-day loyalties (where possible). Thanks for sharing, Lesli Beavers.

"Ultimately, we're social creatures, and as in any relationship — even in one like work, which at its most basic terms is an exchange of labor for money — the most disillusioned of us still seek something more than a financial transaction. We want to be seen as people, not as line items — and employers can take the first step to repairing the psychological contract by recognizing that simple truth. And if they do it fully and faithfully enough, maybe we can begin to forge a healthier workplace dynamic — one in which loyalty, and the benefits that accompany it, flows both ways."

Empowering parents and employers | Parental Support Strategy Consultant | Making lasting cultural change | Speaker | Podcaster | Proud Parent
Being a parent in the workplace comes in many shapes and sizes, lots of which aren't talked about or understood. In this conversation, I'm chatting with Tracey Liot (Workplace Trainer / Consultant ) who is a parent and also a carer to her 10 year old son. As you can see from the screenshot, there were some intense eye moments - especially where stereotypes are concerned! Tracey is on a mission to change the narrative for parents who happen to be carers, and want to craft a career in a workplace. There are so many practical things we can do to establish cultures where people can thrive and blend family life with work, but it has to start with understanding people's lived realties (whilst honouring boundaries!!). Nobody owes us their story, but when someone does want to share we need to listen, be curious and let that person talk about their experiences. It isn't a one size fits all, and Tracey doesn't speak for a whole community of parents who are carers - but hopefully what this gives you is an idea on how to approach a conversation and some of the suggestions for offering support (and a few myths busted along the way!). Link in the first comment to have a watch. #PowerOfTheParent #ParentsAndCarers #ParentsAtWork

Did you know one out of three job seekers run for the hills when the word “family” is in a job ad? 👀🏃 When you’re part of a family, you’re expected to accept and support a person even though it goes against your will at times. For better or for worse, they’re your family! People even go above and beyond at the expense of their well-being sometimes, just for the sake of family. Circumstances don’t leave people with any other choice in these cases. 😕 So when we use the term “family” in the employment context, this is what many job seekers expect to happen too. They unconsciously create a work family connection in their minds and expect that they’ll be asked to go above and beyond their pay grade, asked to sacrifice and put in great commitment—because that’s what some families do for each other. 🤷 So does that mean family values at work are meaningless? Not entirely! Learn more about words to describe work culture here: 📖 https://lnkd.in/g6VCBzxF #companyculture #remoteteam #virtualassistants #employeeengagement

The question: if you could have anything you wanted at work, what would you choose? The top thing people wanted was more leave. #2 was more flexibility. They beat everything else by a mile. What about you… If you could have anything you wanted at work, what would you choose? Let me know in the comments or DMs
