25th May 2023, Nibou Industries (M) Sdn Bhd is the top 10 finalist on Say ASPIRE program by Selangor Youth Community (SAY) . Congratulate us for reaching this milestone together. 🎪 I’m honoured to take the lead. Despite I might sound exaggerating to say it take a circus to run the show but behind me there’s a supportive crew rooting for it. With limited resources, #agilemanagement is what I practice throughout the journey. In the absent of “A team”, had challenged me to handpick my team. Which indirectly bind with an unsayable rule - current tasks progression must not be affected nor delayed. Instead of forming the team in a traditional way, I involved different people and maximising one’s skill set at the respective stage. To make it simple let’s break it into 3 stages; Stage 1, premilary interview at this stage I only had Jee Kei Foo in the team. To assist me in curating the pitch. Stage 2, moving forward from Top 30 to 10 I then addded finance analyst to the group. Which make us now a trio that could analyst information from different perspectives and curate a good report with strong rationale that backed by facts and figure. Last stage, the Top 10 honours Knowing that we need to present and showcase ourselves in the event more people were then being called upon. 1. From pre-work, we had me myself & Jee Kei to work back & forth with our creative director. To curate a deck that is clean & sharp (which is what you found in the video). 2. To set up, Joey had led the setup process 3. The day, to ensure no one were welcome by our empty booth we then had Joey & Natasya R. to be ready to serve and engage. Notably, 99% of it were women. We here then prof gender and age is just a word and number thing. It don’t define your capability. So, just be #confidence ! Thank you Selangor Youth Community (SAY) for the opportunity to learn and provide us a pool of resources notably network. Nevertheless you run a business or not, network is the no.1 resources you should start building since then. More than greatful enough to present infront of the great Raja Muda Selangor and respective representatives from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) , SME Corp. But this is simply not true... 😉 People can be taught to be as good, maybe even better... 📣 Recently, Melanin Gamers was invited down to speak at University of the Arts London A huge thanks as always to UAL team and Luca Risino for this opportunity to take part in UAL's conference:  LOOP: a festival of Moving Image and Digital Arts. 📄 Normally, I accept these speaking opportunities on behalf of the team. But this time, I had another conflict; after all, you can't be in two places at once. 😥 Admitting that you can't do it all. 💢 I think every Founder will admit that they find it difficult to delegate. We convince ourselves that doing a task yourself is not only more efficient, but training up another member of the team to do what you have done for years will take longer, than if you simply did the task yourself. 🧐 But I believe this is a cop-out. Delegating is not only important to growing a team, but it's crucial to instilling confidence. Moreover, a business that can't survive without you is not a viable business. 🤓 By delegating this task to Alan Ashalley-Anthony, he gained valuable experience on what it's like to run a solo talk and what it's like to network alone; these same skills I learnt and find so valuable when it comes to navigating the industry. 📝 Interestingly, when he came back to debrief the team, the insights that he had gleaned from the day were different from what I would have picked up, and I was able to learn something new. 🌝 My young Padawan has surpassed the Master Jedi. By giving your team more opportunities, everyone gains. Synergy for Growth: A Journey of Collaboration Stepping into the bustling atmosphere of the QS Fair at Eko Hotel and Suites for the first time, I knew it was going to be a memorable experience. But what made it truly special was having Tobi Abiodun , an old friend and colleague, right there with me. Tobi isn't just any friend—he’s a gifted spoken word artist, copy and poem writer, as well as a social entrepreneur with a heart for teaching kids in the slums of Oworo, Lagos. When I told him about the fair, he didn’t hesitate to volunteer.I quickly informed Beth Eden my then CEO at QS ImpACT about him and his enthusiasm for making a difference, especially through our shared passion for the SDGs. Together, we tackled the day head-on. Tobi helped set up our QS ImpACT booth, ensuring everything was in place to showcase the work we do and the opportunities we offer. His creative touch was evident in every detail, from the booth's layout to the way we presented our message. As the fair progressed, Tobi was right there, engaging with attendees, collecting data from prospects, and capturing the event’s highlights through the lens of his Iphone. Tobi’s support exemplified the very essence of SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals. It reminded me that when we collaborate, especially with those who share our vision, we can amplify our impact and reach new heights. Friday dinner by the canals — there's nothing more Amsterdam than that. 🚤 During my recent trip to Amsterdam for our Dutch expansion, I met up with Kestutis Viliunas from our partner, The Partnership for Supply Chain Management.
