My heart is asking me to listen on sidewalks a lot and double down on writing my book on Sidewalk Talk. And May marks 9 years of Sidewalk Talk. Happy Birthday Sidewalk Talk. 🎂 Holy $hittballs you have taught me a lot. I am doing "book therapy" right now because I want to say some dangerous stuff about our dehumanizing ways. I want to be clear in my psyche as I write. The Identity Trap (yes a nod to Yascha Mounk's book of the same name) we are in right now I will roar about. Listening on sidewalks has chipped away at my reverence to identity obsession while I remain committed to inclusion and justice. I am glad to have sorted how to run Sidewalk Talk sustainably to my spirit while allowing it to safely expand. I burnt myself out three years ago. Lots of soul work, mistakes, learning boundaries. Operationally, Sidewalk Talk has expanded beyond a background checked chapter leader model where folks must pay to be a leader bc the application process is costly. Many just wanted to listen with a friend and not do a chapter. So...Tah Dah...we listened. Sidewalk Talk now gives you the "How To" to grab a friend and go listen in a friend group on the Sidewalk safely and effectively for FREE ... not even needing to be expressly part of Sidewalk Talk. A complete democratization. We still charge money for our trainings on Listening and Conflict resolution and chapter leadership so we can cover operating expenses. But everything else is freely offered. Cool eh? Go listen? www.sidewalk-talk.org

10 things about Kim: 1. Earliest childhood memory? - Sitting with my papa under a pecan tree, picking peanuts off of some plants that had been dug up. I was probably three at the time. 2. Favorite childhood nickname? How did you get it? - KimBob. On a high school beta club convention trip to Atlanta, several of my friends and I chowed down on Bob's peppermint sticks. We ended up adding Bob to several names. 3. Is it easy for you to accept help from people? - No! I feel like I am a burden to others when I need help. 4. How do you hope people describe you? - I want to be known as a kind, trustworthy, and helpful person. 5. Where do you go for inspiration? - Pinterest 6. What is the worst song? - "What Does the Fox Say?" 7. Do you have any pets? - 3 dogs (and 4 kids 😜) 8. Do you have a morning routine? - Yes! I let the dogs out to potty and eat a bowl of cereal before everyone else gets out of bed. 9. What is something you would tell your younger self? - Take the dang pictures! 10. City or country? - Definitely country. * * * * * #gettoknowme #gettoknowmechallenge #gettoknowmebetter #employeespotlight #employeeappreciation #employee #brighamcity #brighamcityutah #brighamcityut #brighamcitymainstreet #northernutah #northernutahhomes #northernutahrealestate #utahgram #utahhomes #utahisrad #utahcounty #utahrealtor #utahrealestate #boxeldercounty #realtor #farmhouse #farmhouserealty

It’s getting more difficult to get the Whitakers and Stevensons together these days. Between kids, pets, work, and a 1.5 hour drive between us, we don’t get to see each other as often as we like. Luckily, we were able to meet up in San Clemente for a delicious dinner to celebrate Anna’s (Corey’s wife) birthday. Hopefully we won’t have to wait so long for our next double date! #onlinebusiness #businesspartners #onlineentrepreneurs

It's Fence Day at Hamlin Park in Chicago - a day which brings joy to some, misery to others and is a modern example of the Greek case study known as "The Tragedy of the Commons" - or in this case, parks. We all like public spaces. The only question is who pays for them. Who gets to use them and when. And, in this particular instance, who gets the distinct privilege of cleaning them up (and paying for that, too.) All over the park district, there are signs everywhere that read: "No dogs allowed", and all winter long dogs run amok doing what dogs do: ripping grass out, digging holes, and creating general disarray. It's funny, too, because like 150 feet from the actual baseball diamonds there is this other quaint, charming area. You won't believe what you'll find in this safe, clean, fenced in spot. Why; that's a living, breathing real-life dog park, isn't it? Well, for months, even years, the dog owners and kids' coaches went round and round. Finally, some genius in construction and other wiseman who knows all the cops and aldermen said, "We have a solution." And presto, despite lots of online complaining and overall testiness by some neighbors, and interim solution is found. Enforced. "Fence it off!" And despite the howls of protests, some bring early morning coolers to celebrate the transition while others sulk. Either way, in about ten weeks, you'll see a bunch of six-year olds running around the Friendly, Spotless Confines with another phrase top of mind: "Play Ball". Somewhere, Pony Boy is quietly, desperately weeping. Figuring.
