Today is worth celebrating the World EV day!
The World EV day https://lnkd.in/degkviJz was created 5 years ago to raise awareness and promote the shift towards electric vehicles worldwide. Since I started working with EVs back in early 2012, the world has come a very long way and it's truly joyful to see progress so far, at least in Sweden and in some other european countries (parts of US and Chine alike). Still, there is a long way to go for a full word wide electric vehicle fleet, and we can not stop caring.
The past couple of years, together with a challenging macro environment, there has unfortunately been an increased lobbyism against EVs, where incentives has been taken away and focus has shifted from sustainable concerns, towards financial and military conflict concerns. It's clear that incentives can not continue forever, but there are other policy and political supports than could be just as useful, to keep driving the change. Considering how far we still have to go to have a 0-emission free vehicle fleet, we are far away from letting supports and incentives go away for good. If the oil industry still recieves heavy incentives and oil being a cheap commodity again, I think it's important to once again raise political and public awareness that the actual challange has not gone away.
Climate change is still a fact that will be even more painful in the coming years and we need to continue to drive CO2-levels down, even though other short term challenges lies ahead. This long term challenge must not be forgotten and the shift towards EVs is a big change that need to continue to happen for years to come.
So here goes a celebration and thank you to all of those increadible people and companies who adapted to EVs in the past 12 years, and in particular to those who will never go back. Let's continue to drive electric and push the bounderies of even higher EV-adoption.
