#SCP is proud to participate in Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through the month of May. Here are 3 suggestions to celebrate the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. 1. Instead of just eating at an Asian restaurant, talk to the owners. Learn their stories, how they went about establishing their business, the obstacles they've faced, and local issues they care about. 2. Expand your knowledge. Flip through a popular magazine and look at how they portray Asian Pacific Americans. Are the portrayals negative? Positive? What kinds of stereotypes are depicted? What kind of message do you think this sends to other readers? 3. Spread the word! Tell a non-Asian Pacific American that May is recognized as Asian Pacific American month! This is perhaps the simplest, yet most effective way to raise awareness. Tell him or her what it means to you, invite them to a local event, or share a historical fact with them. #aapihistorymonth #aapiheritagemonth #AAPI #DEIA #strategicconsultingpartners

May marks Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which celebrates the histories of Americans from Asia and the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. May was chosen to commemorate Asian American and Pacific Islanders from two key dates: May 7 and May 10. May 7, 1843, marks the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States. And May 10, 1869, or Golden Spike Day, recognizes the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the U.S., which had significant contributions from Chinese workers. There are various ways to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage month. We can start with learning about their traditions, food, and music. Host a book club featuring an Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) author or a film screening featuring an AAPI director. Explore and support local AAPI businesses. At work, provide learning opportunities, honor the culture through employee events, or host a fireside chat about Asian representation. These are a few of the many ways we can honor and support Asian American and Pacific Islanders. How will you celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage month? #AsianPacificAmericanMonth #LearnAndSupport #CelebrateAndHonor

🌏 Cherishing Asian Heritage Month 🌏 This Asian Heritage Month, I reflect on the invaluable lessons my family, business partners, and clients from across Asia have taught me: -Work Ethics: Always be responsive to clients within 24 hours. -Integrity: Never lie; trust is hard to build but easy to lose. -Knowledge: Use knowledge as a tool to help people. -Perspective-taking: Understand the needs of others by thinking from their perspective. I've learned these principles from individuals like Tony Hoong, CPA, Joanna Zheng, Adam Cai, Jessica Jin, and many others who have enriched my life with their wisdom. Let's celebrate our rich cultural heritage and the values that unite us. #AsianHeritageMonth #CulturalValues #BusinessEthics #PerspectiveTaking

As May unfolds, the United States gears up to honor the rich tapestry of Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage throughout the nation. This annual commemoration, known as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI Heritage Month), shines a spotlight on the remarkable historical and cultural contributions made by individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. The term "AAPI" encompasses a diverse array of cultures spanning the Asian continent—from East, Southeast, and South Asia—as well as the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. This month holds particular significance as it marks the anniversary of pivotal moments in Asian American history. On May 7, 1843, the first Japanese immigrants set foot in the United States, laying the foundation for generations to come. Additionally, May 10, 1869, commemorates Golden Spike Day, symbolizing the completion of the transcontinental railroad, a monumental achievement fueled by the labor of Chinese workers. According to the latest data from the 2020 U.S. Census, the Asian American and Pacific Islander community boasts a population of approximately 20.6 million individuals residing in the United States. Embracing the theme of "Advancing Leaders Through Innovation," the 2024 edition of AAPI Heritage Month aims to spotlight the pioneering spirit and ingenuity prevalent within the community. For those seeking further insights and resources, the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) stands as a valuable resource hub.
