How do you look after your mental health? I'm in no doubt about the benefits movement, particularly running, brings to my mental and physical well-being. I kicked off this year successfully by running three times a week (well, most of the time). But I noticed a subtle difference compared to my previous running streaks. I wasn't running because I felt like I needed to lose weight, be thinner, or look better; I was running because it made me a happier person. The endorphins were more addictive than before. I (temporarily) fell off the wagon after I'm pretty sure I broke my toe (probably not!). Subsequently, I fell into the trap of telling myself I'd "start again soon." Two months later, there's nothing quite like a company-wide challenge with Spratley & Partners to get me back on the concrete treadmill. And here I am again, having completed my 4th run this morning in the last seven days! And whilst I wouldn't say I'm a 'runner' and definitely not consistent, running has always been a simple, no-excuse way for me to get out and move. Even if I don't run all the time, it's taught me mental resilience. If I don't think too hard and just do it, I can get back on the road no matter how often I fall behind. So, as part of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek (13th-19th May), our team is participating in our own 'Move in May' campaign. An opportunity for us to encourage our team to move more, raise awareness, and fundraise for Anxiety UK UK, the welfare partner of the Architects Benevolent Society. We've already completed nearly 400 miles collectively. If you'd like to donate a few quid, the link is in the post below:
#MentalHealthAwareness Week This year, the Mental Health Foundation's theme is “Movement: Moving more for our Mental Health.” As part of Mental Health Awareness Week (13th-19th May), our team is participating in our own ‘Move in May’ campaign. An opportunity for us to encourage our team to move more, raise awareness, and fundraise for Anxiety UK, the welfare partner of the Architects Benevolent Society. S&P's goal is to encourage the team to each move 31 miles throughout May - a great way to get active and be mindful of exercise and its benefits on mental health. The campaign is underway, and we've already completed nearly 400 miles collectively. Keep an eye on our progress and donate here: https://lnkd.in/dDiAved9

Excited (sore) doesn't even begin to cover it! I’ve joined forces with the brilliantly named team "Ketchup, If You Can" to tackle the Push-Up Challenge 2024. Alongside the powerhouse team of Cleo Shaw, Chloe M., Chloe Holzheimer, and Kate Broome, we are on a mission to rock out 3,249 push-ups in just 24 days. Why such a precise number? Each push-up represents a life lost to suicide in 2022, and we’re pushing hard to lower that number. This challenge is a perfect mix of grit, perseverance, and a serious cause. It’s about strength, awareness, and most importantly, support—support for mental health and each other. Join the fun, make a difference, or just cheer us on. Every bit of support counts and we appreciate it all! Check out how you can be part of this important cause. Let’s push limits, push boundaries, and push up! 💪 #PushUpChallenge2024 #MentalHealthAwareness https://lnkd.in/g-KbCJdT

As Mental Health Awareness Month begins, WeAre8 is set to address mental health with meaningful action, turning the media spend from some of Australia's biggest brands, including Doritos and Berocca, into a force for change. Danika Johnston explained: "The mental health crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. WeAre8 provides such a unique framework to help tackle the issue head-on. We not only offer people, creators, charities, and communities a platform free from toxic content and algorithms, but our ability to redistribute wealth with every video view enables organisations to work toward solutions." Unfortunately, mental ill-health stigma is still present in 2024. We're committed to changing this by raising awareness and starting conversations about the mental health issues affecting Australians. In 2022, 3,249 people died by suicide in Australia. This number motivates us to #pushforbetter mental health. My challenge (and team) complete 3,249 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. Im looking forward to Build better connections at work: Strengthen team bonds as you work towards this goal together. Improve workplace culture: Support your colleagues and create a positive, encouraging environment.
