World Suicide Prevention Day is an important day observed every year on September 10th. It's a time to raise awareness, provide support, and create understanding around the topic of suicide. This day serves as a reminder that every life is valuable and that there is always help available. Throughout the month of September, we will be dedicating our time to conversations about suicide—how to recognise the signs, how to support someone who may be struggling, and what steps to take if you're experiencing these feelings yourself. It’s okay to talk about suicide. In fact, it’s crucial. By opening up, we can help break the stigma, offer support, and potentially save lives. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #YouAreNotAlone #BreakTheStigma

It is important to know how to talk to someone who is struggling with thoughts of suicide. Research shows that asking someone if they are thinking about suicide does not give them the idea. On the contrary, asking someone if they are having suicidal thoughts informs the individual you care, identifies you as a safe person to speak to about how they are feeling, and allows a space for an individual to be honest about what they are experiencing. Knowing and being able to recognize warning signs of suicide is not enough. You must ask questions and be prepared to help if the need is present. If you or someone you know may be considering suicide, help is available. Please call the Suicide Crisis Hotline at 988. #SuicideAwarenessMonth #BeThere

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Today we're spreading the message that it's ok to talk about suicide. In fact, talking about suicide and asking directly can save a life. Knowing how to talk about suicide is something we can all learn. We’ve prepared advice for safe and supportive conversations: 🟣If someone does tell you that they are having suicidal thoughts, always take them seriously. 🟣Don’t feel like you need to offer solutions. Just listening and understanding will be a big help. 🟣Listen in an unhurried way without distractions. If possible, arrange to speak to them again at a specific point. 🟣Encourage them to seek professional support, or call the Samaritans on 116 123. If you are concerned someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Read more advice on talking about suicide here: https://bit.ly/4ge4qif

Mental Health Awareness is something I'm a huge advocate of - having struggled myself and known others that have severely has made me much more aware to signs and traits but they're rarely obvious. If you ever need to talk - please drop me a message anytime and I'll be happy to chat as soon as I've seen it! Being so open about your mental health is so difficult or is perceived differently - if I can help just one person just a little bit - then that's progress. #ItsOkayToTalk #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

🖤 Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Suicide is an important topic that demands more openness and attention. We just studied how to work with new arrivals in prison at Kriminalomsorgens høgskole og utdanningssenter KRUS and practiced talking about suicide with new inmates. It's not an easy subject to ask strangers about but the risk of not asking is just too high. Don't delay. Talk about it. #mentalhealth #suicide #mentalhealthawareness

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and Jami believes we must break the silence on suicidal thoughts. It is likely that we have met people over the course of our lives who have had suicidal thoughts, or we may have even had them ourselves. So, we need to be raising awareness in our communities. Rather than being immobilised by fear, we should acknowledge suicidal thoughts and encourage each other to seek help and support. To find out how we can support each other better, read more at https://lnkd.in/e5HAsNgQ For immediate help, ring Samaritans on Freephone 116 123 (24 hours) or Text Jami to 85258 for free, confidential support from SHOUT. If you need support or are supporting someone who needs help, visit jamiuk.org/get-support/ or call 020 8458 2223. #WSPD2024
