Internal Communications Leader 🚀 Internal communications, change communications, employee engagement, and employee experience: Championing collaborative & inclusive cultures through strategic communications.
With several decades of experience, you’d think my career portfolio would speak for itself. Yet, in a world that celebrates innovation, age often overshadows expertise. Recently, I had the opportunity to share my views on the challenges mature job seekers face in one of the Middle East's national newspapers. This gave me a chance to reflect on my career journey as I have aged and the ageism I continue to encounter. What I’ve learned along the way is this: 👩💼 Older professionals bring decades of experience, resilience, and mentorship, which are assets to any team. 📚 Age is just a number, but experience is invaluable - it shapes how we approach challenges and solve problems. 💡 Being underestimated often fuels resilience and creativity, pushing us to innovate in unexpected ways. 🔑 Adaptability is key to staying relevant and thriving, allowing us to grow alongside the industries we serve. 🚪 Breaking stereotypes opens doors for others, empowering future generations to see value in every stage of a career. 🚀 Ultimately, the only limit is the one we set for ourselves. Despite the constant battle, I won’t let ageism define my journey - and it shouldn’t define yours. Let’s challenge outdated assumptions and recognize the immense contributions of seasoned professionals in driving innovation and building more robust, more inclusive organisations. #Ageism #CareerJourney #ExperienceMatters #BreakingBarriers #InclusionMatters

Have you had experience employing 'hidden talent' from cohorts such as: - Young - Mature - Disability - Indigenous - Culturally and / or linguistically diverse - Other? If so, your senior leaders / HR directors are welcome to register and join one of several master class sessions. It's an opportunity to share, learn and network with others to improve our collective knowledge of what works in terms of employment outcomes and job quality. As yesterday was #WorldRefugeeDay, I wanted to share how skills-based hiring can empower refugees. 📑 Did you know 80% of hiring managers say refugees have the right skills but are often overlooked due to a lack of traditional credentials? 🔭 Prioritizing skills over degrees creates opportunities for refugees and other marginalized groups — while helping companies tap into overlooked talent pools. 💭 Hiring refugees can be a serious strategic advantage. Employees from refugee backgrounds bring unique perspectives, experiences, and cultural understanding to the workforce. 📈 What’s more, our data shows that a diverse workforce out-innovates and outperforms others. But in order to welcome refugees to your team, you may need to adjust your current hiring practices. 🖥 Learn more about skills-based hiring with our free LinkedIn Learning path: https://lnkd.in/djiPJnKq
