To the surprise of no one, giving to human services increased during the pandemic. But here’s the best news: #giving is still up! We believe that the pandemic shed a bright light on basic needs that weren’t being met, and drove many #Americans to step up their support. We love seeing such great news reflected in data 🌟 #Philanthropy #GivingTrends #GivingUSA2024 #GivingUSA #HumanServices #PandemicGiving

Check out this new report from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and Ruderman Family Foundation on #philanthropy by U.S. #Jewish households to both religious and secular causes. Among the key findings is that those who personally experienced #antisemitism gave almost 10x more than those who did not. This is one of the first major reports on U.S. Jewish household #giving trends in almost a decade. Check out these highlights from the report and learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gRruU76v

Someone asked me other day ! Does Helping Beggars Make Sense? and my answer was - Well ! the decision to help beggars is a deeply personal one, shaped by individual values, experiences, and circumstances, extending a hand of kindness to those in need may be one of the most meaningful acts we can undertake. In doing so, we affirm our shared humanity and contribute to the creation of a more just and compassionate society. So, does helping beggars make sense? Perhaps the question we should ask ourselves is: can we afford not to? #Compassion #SocialJustice #Empathy #Humanity #CommunitySupport #PovertyAlleviation #SocioeconomicEquality #Philanthropy #Homelessness #SupportLocalCharities #EthicalGiving #Solidarity

The very act of taking rest is a revolutionary act. Queer Black Poet Audre Lorde states, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” There is great risk in not taking necessary rest. Chronic stress can spike cortisol levels and put us at risk of anxiety, depression, a lowered immune system, cognitive issues, heart problems, and gut issues (National Institute of Mental Health). Rest and connection regulate cortisol levels and reduce anxiety. Rather than being self-indulgent, rest and connection serve to heal the body by regulating cortisol levels and reducing anxiety. Come join us in J.O.Y. for the body and spirit!

Client focused, soft skills expert, keynote speaker, working with people to help them become their best self, best family unit, best family business- in whatever they define best.
In family and family businesses, it’s important to educate the next generation about the things that matter. Start the process when the kids are significantly younger than you think may be appropriate. One way of doing this is to give children or grandchildren a small monetary allocation each year and have them collectively decide where and how they want to spent it. The chair rotates annually. A am age appropriate proposal with rational and supporting documentation must be presented to the senior generation. Each year the organizational recipient must change. This teaches problem solving, communication, community involvement, the ability to develop a comprehensive and persuasive argument, understanding that money is finite and why giving parameters are important. #family #familybusiness #conflict #communication #bestpractices #philanthropy #education #heirpreparedness

Strategic support + professional development for businesses + individuals | Trainer | Coach | Consultant | Facilitator | Speaker | Separating the signal from the noise
A challenge to you on #GivingTuesday - one that directly relates to conversations I have with #coaching clients. If you don't know which organizations you would like to support (and so all those emails just feel like noise): spend some time reflecting on your #values. What issues are important to you? What type of help do you want to support? Where do you want to have an impact? For example, I focus my gifts on local (Washington DC), direct impact (to individual humans), and I'm concerned about homelessness and food insecurity. This year I've supported The Father McKenna Center, Calvary Women's Services, and Community of Hope. If you don't know how much you can (or want to) give: spend some time getting to know your #finances. How much can you afford? What are your budget priorities? For example, I know I can give more now that I am not paying for educational expenses. And, just like employers value #loyalty and #communication, I have learned that philanthropy is based on strong and trusting #relationships. I know and trust people at each one of the organizations I mentioned. That keeps me opening those emails! Thanks to everyone in my network working for #philanthropic and #missionbased organizations. I wish you Giving Tuesday success. #philanthropy #intentionality
