Happy Birthday to Helen Keller 🎂, the world’s first blinddeaf person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree and a tireless international advocate for the blind. In 1925, words of inspiration from Helen Keller encouraged Lions Clubs around the world to help cure blindness. Addressing the Lions International Convention in Ohio, USA she said, "Try to imagine how you would feel if you were suddenly stricken blind today." These words planted the seed that led Lions Clubs in Western Australia to form the Lions Save-Sight Foundation (WA) Inc and ultimately the Lions Eye Institute. #InspiringWords #LionsClubs #HelenKeller Pictured: Helen Keller (centre) is presented with flowers (Copyright: American Foundation for the Blind, Helen Keller Archives)
