I'll always remember the leadership meeting where I requested our organization adopt basic trauma-informed safety guidelines. Despite research on proven impacts, my well-researched proposal was met with: "Aren't you being overly sensitive?" "That's too much work for minimal payoff." "We can't accommodate every sensitivity - where would it end?" At that moment, I realized that if they didn't think basic safety and care precautions were necessary to implement compassionately, I couldn't continue pouring passion and talent into an organization so misaligned with human dignity. My first time experiencing this blatant dismissal of trauma-informed advocacy was in my early 20s. Sadly, it would not be my last either over the years. I am now in my own space. Before seeking tenants, we implemented trauma-informed guidelines into fundamental office policies and layout - to offer a higher quality of care focused on safety, collaboration, empowerment, and social connectedness.

Can we look at the relationship as a “partnership” where we are only accountable to each other for child related issues? With the right boundaries in place - this partnership is possible and can be significantly important to promoting your child’s ongoing wellbeing, safety and security post separation. We offer heartfelt condolences to all those impacted by workplace accidents, recognizing the profound loss and pain experienced by families and communities. Each life lost or altered by injury represents a world of shattered dreams and a reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety in every workplace. Their memory serves as a poignant call to action, underscoring the necessity of safeguarding the well-being of every individual. The significance of workplace safety cannot be overstated. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that everyone returns home safely at the end of the day. Through rigorous safety protocols, ongoing education, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, we can prevent such tragedies and honour those we have lost by making meaningful changes. Let's use this day not only to mourn but to motivate. Participate in local ceremonies, observe a moment of silence, and support training and initiatives aimed at improving workplace safety. It's in our power to make a difference. Looking ahead, we hold onto hope for a safer future, where the stories of loss become increasingly rare. Started by the National Safety Council, it's a time dedicated to raising awareness about #safety and highlighting ways to prevent injuries at home, work, and in our communities. So obviously, I'm thinking about winter safety during the heat of summer. I know, I know—talking about snow and ice in June is like planning a ski trip at the beach, but hear me out! Planning ahead for winter can be incredibly rewarding. Here’s why ⬇️ 1. Preparing your walkways, stairs, ramps, and other areas with proper safety measures can prevent accidents and injuries, saving you from costly medical bills and potential lawsuits. Ensuring your team is educated about winter safety can lead to fewer workplace accidents, which means less downtime and more #productivity. 2. Being proactive about #wintersafety shows your commitment to the well-being of your family, employees, and community. Winter conditions create hazards, especially for those with disabilities, mobility issues, or older adults. Slip and fall accidents can lead to serious injuries and hefty costs. It's not just about ditching the shovel—it's about protecting people, especially the most vulnerable.
