Hello Litchfield Elementary School District community, This has been a great year, one where you have honored the district's past and have embraced its future. A year of growth, collaboration, and innovation, setting the stage for an even brighter future for our students. As we end our school year and want to take a moment to reflect on some achievements and express my gratitude to members of the Litchfield Elementary School District family, one of our most exciting initiatives this year has been the creation of the Litchfield. 100 Concept This profile of our K Learner will be at the core of our new strategic plan designed to ensure that every student in LESD 79 is fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities high school and beyond. The Litchfield Learner characteristics embody our commitment to excellence, and they will guide our efforts of continuous improvement across all grade levels. We are also thrilled to celebrate the outstanding student results from our Azella testing this year. Our English Language Learners have shown marked improvement on the state's mandated assessment, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our educators, students and families. And positive results are a testament to the effective teaching strategies and the supportive learning environments cultivated within our schools. None of these accomplishments would be possible without the unwavering support of our community partners to include the district's educational foundation. Their contributions have been invaluable in providing the resources and opportunities that enrich our students and our staff. Thank you for the Foundations ongoing commitment to the district successes has recently witnessed in our Pride Awards ceremony and in support of the 8th grade field trip. Collaboration among staff has been evident throughout this year and is an area of celebration primarily found in our Professional Learning Community, or PLC process. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility, we have been able to enhance educational excellence and ensure that our students receive the necessary academic and social supports. Our teachers and staff have embraced this collaborative approach, and the positive impact on student success is clear as I close this school year and look forward to the next. I want to express my appreciation for the warm welcome I have received from the entire Litchfield Elementary community. It has been an honor to join you as Superintendent, and I am motivated by the dedication and passion of our team, along with the work that remains in front of us. Together, we are committed to building on our successes and addressing our future challenges. Remember, we all hold the key to opening educational opportunities and experiences for our students, and I look forward to reconnecting in a few short months.
This month, we are celebrating the ways educators have taken the brain-based principles and strategies that we provide and brought them to life in their classrooms.

This district continues to be full of lies. They will get teachers of color but they CANNOT “retain them.” There is no mention in this article about how many teachers of color left the district, how many educators and administrators of color that have been affected by health issues due to stressful working conditions in this district, and how they plan to “retain the ones” that are currently there.
I read nothing about how educators and administrators of color will be protected, nutured, loved and healed. I heard nothing about a plan to make sure educators of color have a sense of belonging.
This entire article is a form of tokenization. The weight that this district puts on educators of color to “fix” the “gap”, while being forced to assimilate to whiteness while swallowing themselves, just to survive (not thrive) as an educator in this district is ridiculous.
Did the teachers of color get compensation for speaking out on this article? No white teacher was interviewed on how they will support the students of color in their classrooms this year that don’t look like them. Their voices are not a representation of every educator of color in this district. They are speaking to teachers of color that are new to the district. Let's hear from the ones that have been there for some time. The ones who have been silenced and invisibilized. Let’s honor the ones that are no longer there. Interview the white educators and administrators that have seen the struggle for educators of color. Let’s centralize the conversations in this district around “whiteness” and how it has impacted not only education but schooling as well. If any district ever did this, we would be so much farther along.
Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure you have to fully understand what the problem is before a REAL solution can occur and this district refuses to do so, as many others do as well.
Don’t hire educators of color if you don’t see and hear the ones that are currently in this district. Don’t hire educators of color if you can not protect them against systemic racism. Tell the truth, let them know what they’re up against and the lack of support they will receive.
Tokenization at its best.
CCSD don’t capitalize this as a win. This is history repeating itself. In the words of Bettina Love…you’re “spiritually murdering” educators and administrators of Color.

Remember that the "best" school for your child may depend on various factors such as their individual needs, learning style, and personal preferences. It's advisable to explore each school's curriculum, facilities, extracurricular activities, and community involvement to determine the best fit for your child's education.

Here's the problem with this post. If Education is like a baseball game - then it seems to forget that baseball games need TEAMS to survive. And there is NO TEAM in education.
Tossing parents, students and teachers into the deep end and saying to them, "SWIM, SWIM" is not the same as forming a real team that works toward a common goal.
Ive worked in K12 education for the last 20 years. Ive visited hundreds of schools. I have talked to thousands of educators. And what I see across the country is a LACK OF TEAMWORK.
That's not the teachers fault. That's not the Principals fault. That's not the parents fault - and shame on you for blaming the students.
This is the GOVERNMENT'S FAULT - 100%.
The US Dept of Education's policy and agenda is ACTIVELY seeking to destroy our schools and prevent TEAMS from forming. So what say you Dept of Ed??

Recently I worked on an extended project with Substantial to predict what the future of math could look like when designed for Black, Latino/a, and low-income children.
Considering ALL stakeholders in the education ecosystem was major for our design process. We looked at the teaching & learning of math from multiple angles to try to get an understanding of the pain points, possible solutions, and the needed imaginations for a better math experience.
That life changing work (one of my best working experiences) shifted my gaze a few steps back from the student. I have to look at the big picture. The students, teachers, administrators, parents, siblings, government, non-profits, community members, etc. Everyone has a foot in how math education is shaped right in this moment. Which means we all play a role in how we take the next step forward to make equitable and fun teaching and learning experiences for our marginalized youth.
