We need to talk about your flair… Ever thought about becoming a junior ranger? Haven’t we all? To become a Junior Ranger, you have to embark on a series of challenges that will test your wilderness and people skills. People skills never hurt, right? Also, your knowledge of preservation, history, and why national parks are so special. It's like a park service-themed obstacle course, but with less mud, more learning, and definitely not having to wrestle a raccoon or two to earn the badge. That was one time, and the raccoons started it. Once you've conquered all the challenges, aka completed your Junior Ranger booklet, and impressed the park rangers on duty with your dedication to parks, you'll be rewarded with your own flair, like a badge or patch, a certificate, and most importantly, the ranger’s unwavering R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Having an outlet that will help you learn more about yourself and challenging your limits is an essential part of life. In my case, dragonboat is one of my outlet. Some of the life lessons I have learned in this sport that I apply every day (even in the workplace) are: 1. Communication is essential. It’s important that we move in unison for the boat to sail smoothly. 2. One way to improve is to acknowledge your mistakes. We review them and work on them to achieve a faster rate each race. 3. Having a network of people who believe in you is a blessing. We came from a different walks of life, encouraging and challenging each other to be the best version of ourselves. Once you find your own version of that outlet, hold on to it, and you will love yourself more than ever.
