Next week marks the beginning of Housekeeping Week. To my friends and connections traveling in the next few days, especially to those not in the industry:
Working in Housekeeping in the Hospitality Industry is back-breaking, labor-intensive, and highly challenging. Room attendants often push through significant physical pain every day to get their job done. With millions of unfilled jobs in Housekeeping and travel picking back up to pre-COVID rates, Housekeeping teams have no choice but to work even harder to deliver an exceptional experience for you as a guest.
Make an effort to do something special to improve their quality of life.
💵 Financial rewards, if you can make them, are excellent and put food on these family's tables.
🚮 Spending a few minutes picking up after yourself before you leave gives Room Attendants a bit of relief, which is greatly appreciated.
🥰 When you pass the staff on the property, give them a big, bright smile and thank them for their hard work.
- Before finishing this post, take a moment to consider: "When is the right time to tip, clean up after myself, or make someone feel special?"
👏 EVERY 👏 TIME 👏 YOU 👏 TRAVEL 👏
For me, Housekeeping Week is a great way to remind myself of how this worker population supports the fabric of our society. Every single day, as we travel for meetings, conventions, and even just for joy, the entirety of that first magical impression is supported by someone working very hard inside of Housekeeping.
What do you think Edie Chandler Lowe and Micah Estis Green?
