#RunningMotivation #WhyWeRun #Gratitude #HealthAndWellness #MindfulRunning Why Do We Run? A Look into What Drives Us Today, I conducted a survey in two running groups—We Runners Club and XpressWayRunners—to understand why people run. I asked members to pick their top two reasons for running, and the responses gave fascinating insights into the different motivations behind this simple yet meaningful activity. I’m grateful to everyone who took part and shared their personal reasons. Here’s a breakdown of what I found: Health Seekers (46.4%): The majority of runners are motivated by health. For them, running is a way to maintain physical fitness, manage weight, and stay healthy for the long term. Mindful Movers (18.6%): Many run to reduce stress and find mental clarity. Running becomes a form of meditation, offering emotional balance and peace of mind. Freedom Explorers (9.3%): These runners use running as an escape, a way to explore new places and break free from routine. Every run is an adventure. Resilient Warriors (9.3%): For this group, running builds mental toughness and resilience. It’s a way to overcome challenges and strengthen both body and mind. Social Runners (7.2%): Some runners value the social aspect, enjoying group runs or participating in events. For them, it’s about connection and shared experiences. Self-Discovery Seekers (4.1%): A few run for self-reflection and personal growth. For them, each run is a journey toward greater self-awareness. Goal-Driven Achievers (3.1%): A smaller group thrives on personal goals and challenges. They push their limits, aiming for new milestones in every run. Empowerment Chasers (2.1%): These runners are reclaiming control over their lives, using running to rebuild confidence after facing hardship. This survey made me reflect on why I run and why we all keep coming back to the road. Whether it’s for health, mental clarity, connection, or self-discovery, running offers something unique to each of us. But beyond the physical act, running reveals deeper truths about who we are and what we’re striving for. So, what are you running toward? A big thank you to We Runners Club and XpressWayRunners for participating and sharing your reasons!

Running isn’t just about breaking a sweat or logging miles – it’s a powerful boost for both your body and mind. Studies have found that even short bursts of physical activity can enhance concentration, boost memory, and improve overall brain performance. When you run, blood flow to your brain increases. This rush of blood brings along a special protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which supports your brain cells (neurons) that are already there and encourages the growth of new ones. These new connections between neurons are like bridges, allowing your brain to communicate better and work smarter. So, running not only keeps your body fit but also gives your brain a boost! #GlobalRunDay #LiveLifeWithVitality #HealthyHabits

Physical Wellness: Monday Run Staying Active is the Key Monday evening run along my usual route. Recently, a friend told me she had given up exercising and asked how I’ve kept running for so long. I answered, "Results." No matter what we do, we tend to keep going when we see the results we want. Over time, I’ve completed multiple marathons and ultras, and running has helped me stay fit and maintain my weight. I suggested she not focus too much on the results but instead find a sport she enjoys. By staying active, improvement will come naturally. 🏃🏼♂️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼 It’s not about perfection, but persistence. Keep moving, and the results will follow! #mengchansg #PhysicalWellness #MondayRun

The Power of Running: Why It’s More Than Just Exercise As a passionate advocate for health and wellness, I can’t help but extol the virtues of running. 🏃♂️ Beyond being a form of physical exercise, running is a powerful tool for personal growth and well-being. Here’s why: 1. Physical Health: Running is an excellent cardiovascular exercise that strengthens the heart, lungs, and muscles. It helps in maintaining a healthy weight, reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. 2. Mental Clarity: There’s something about the rhythm of pounding the pavement that clears the mind. Running releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, reducing stress and anxiety. Many runners find that their best ideas come to them while on the trail. 3. Discipline and Goal Setting: Training for a race or simply setting personal running goals requires discipline and dedication. The process of sticking to a training plan builds resilience and determination, skills that translate to other areas of life. 4. Community and Camaraderie: The running community is incredibly supportive and inclusive. Whether it’s joining a local running club or participating in races, runners often find a sense of belonging and camaraderie that is unparalleled. 5. Connection with Nature: Running allows us to reconnect with the natural world. Whether it’s exploring new trails, feeling the wind on our faces, or watching the sunrise during an early morning run, being outdoors enhances our sense of well-being. 6. Self-Discovery: Long runs provide ample time for introspection and self-reflection. Many runners find that they gain insights into their own strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations while on the road. 7. Resilience and Perseverance: Running teaches us to push through discomfort and keep going, even when the going gets tough. This resilience cultivated on the road can be applied to overcome challenges in all areas of life. In conclusion, running is so much more than just a form of exercise. It’s a holistic practice that nourishes the body, mind, and soul. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or just starting out, embrace the journey and enjoy the countless benefits that running has to offer. Lace up those shoes and hit the pavement – your future self will thank you! #Running #Wellness #HealthyLiving #MindBodySoul

🏃♂️ Celebrating a Milestone: Day 365 of Consistent Running/Walking! 🎉 Today marks a significant milestone in my fitness journey - 365 days of running/walking, covering a total distance of 2222km! What started as a challenge during the 100days Running event on April 29th, 2023, has now become a part of my daily routine, and I couldn't be prouder of this accomplishment. This journey wasn't a walk in the park (pun intended). There were moments when I felt demotivated, both internally and externally. But I refused to give up. I made a strong commitment to myself, and that commitment has led me to this incredible success. During this time, I pushed my limits further by incorporating intermittent fasting, consuming only fruits for 9 consecutive days, while still covering 9km each day. It was a challenge, but it taught me the importance of discipline and perseverance. Reflecting on this journey, I've distilled some key learnings that have been instrumental in my success: 1️⃣ Wake up early and seize the day: Starting my mornings at 5:30 am sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. 2️⃣ Prioritize sleep: Ensuring 7-9 hours of quality sleep is crucial for recovery and overall well-being. 3️⃣ Consistent physical activity: Allocating 45-90 minutes each day for exercise keeps me energized and focused. 4️⃣ Never skip a day: Rain or shine, busy or tired, I make it a point to cover a minimum of 2km every single day. 5️⃣ Overcome inertia: Half the battle is won by simply getting out of bed and stepping out the door. This journey has taught me the power of commitment, consistency, and positivity. It's about knowing your own capabilities and constantly challenging yourself to grow. As the new 100days Running event commences today, I'm excited to embark on another chapter of this journey, fuelled by the same determination and passion. Here's to many more milestones ahead! #FitnessJourney #Running #Commitment #Consistency #Positivity #ChallengeYourself
