ChangeNOW keynote.... one worth a listen As she walked onto the Circle Stage at ChangeNOW Paris, surrounded by a full audience, Phoebe Tickell, natural scientist, technologist, social entrepreneur, leading systems thinker, and imagination activist stirred those in attendance with her explanation— We think that the problems we have are technological, we think we need more facts, that we need more resources. We have the facts; we have the science. We don’t have resource problems. We have all the intelligence, the knowledge we need. It is a problem of imagination and will. With forecasts that by 2050 the weight of plastic in our oceans will be greater than all the fish, this is not time to engage in the luxury of gradualism. Phew! One proposal drafted, and my head is buzzing about 'partnering' 🫲🏽 Yes, not 'partnerships' but 'partnering'. Because a partnership is not a thing, it's a live relationship, it's relational, it's interactive, it's much more helpful to see it as an activity rather than an object (that can be easily ignored). 🙌🏼 Here's another excellent opportunity to remind everyone about the excellent depictions of the (sometimes sad) reality of partnerships in #globaldevelopment: These cartoons were elaborated with 🖌️ Olivier Cornelissen (who, I know, would have liked to lean much more into less politically correct corners - and I wish) and Helen Altshul for the #Livestock #CRP https://lnkd.in/dBsTVKBy I hope this proposal will be accepted, or will at least influence the thinking of the client about what it takes to partner for impact and to somewhat change its culture to make space for this important practice where curiosity, humility, courage go hand in hand with listening, co-creating, critical thinking and celebrating success... 🤗 And then next to that is the Liberating Journey also buzzing in my head, with the mini 'groan zone' discussions I'm having - and enjoying - with Jeremy Akers philip clark Silvia de la Torre Diaz and Nadia von Holzen. So fruitful to discuss how we can best set up #liberatingstructures as an effective engine for change 💥 rather than (just) as a methodology giving us options for meetings etc. If anything, this first #LiberatingJourney has only confirmed that I want to do more of this type of work, hand in hand with #ChangeMakers who see the potential for more inspiring collaborations and ways of 'getting stuff done'. And following Linda Howard's advice I am very grateful indeed for all these collaborations that are both extremely stimulating intellectually and totally coming from a place of deep heart 🫶🏼, compassion and aspiration to unleash everyone's genius and everyone's mutually nourishing relationships 🙏
