Are mental health awareness efforts contributing to the rise of reported mental health problems? (Foulkes & Andrews, 2023). Relatively speaking, more people are interested in self-care now than ever, workplaces are more interested in the well-being of employees and mental health is at the forefront of conversation these days. Self-care and mental health are plentiful in every conversation. Even then, data is suggesting deterioration in mental health. So what is happening? In short, people don't know what to do with hyper-awareness of things not going okay. Reflecting is one such example. Reflecting is good thing but it can also lead to rumination and judgment, both serious risk factors for depression. What do you think about it? Sometime back, I mused about this in the following podcast. Share your thoughts in the comments, if you feel comfortable. #mentalhealthawareness #depression #workplaceculture #culture #leadershipfirst The Mindful Leader #womenentrepreneur #passingcloudspodcast #passingcloudscoaching #drparmjitsingh #coaching #executivecoaching #success #businessmen

Let’s talk about compassion fatigue also known as secondary trauma. #compassionfatigue is a common challenge for empathetic individuals, particularly prevalent among mental health practitioners whose days are emotionally draining. Without a proper outlet, secondary stress becomes widespread. While compassion is crucial, it should not come at the expense of your own well-being. Learning coping mechanisms and engaging in venting sessions is crucial. Setting boundaries is essential, especially if you feel emotionally overwhelmed by others. Strive for a balance, remembering to fill your own cup first to maintain a healthy equilibrium. You also need to be compassionate towards yourself.
