After a distinguished decade-long career as a TV anchor, where she reported on five major hurricanes and the iconic Selena trial, all while leading a remote team of 10, she transitioned into the world of marketing. To say she brings a truly unique perspective to the marketing world is also an understatement. That's because Rocio's approach to leadership is rooted in servant leadership. She’s always prioritized her team members' needs first, fostering an environment of growth, innovation, and a strong sense of community. If you’ve worked with Rocio then I am sure you can attest to the fact that her teams will run into fires for her! This non-traditional approach is not just about leading but uplifting others and nurturing their talents to drive collective success. In her marketing endeavors, Rocio applies this mindset in order to drive strategic initiatives that enhance customer experiences and revenue growth. Rocio believes that by putting people first, we can create strategies that resonate more deeply with customers, innovate more effectively and achieve greater success for everyone involved. What breaks my heart is reading her posts about the lack of professionalism and common courtesy of recruiters and headhunters. How can talent like hers be on the sidelines for this long???? Today she needs US all to help lift her up as she has lifted up countless others. Let's celebrate leaders like Rocio, who remind us that with empathy, dedication, and a focus on community, we can achieve extraordinary things. A senior leader who I known once shared. No amount of public publicity and marketing campaigns and advertisement can bring in talents into a company, if the actual company environment is toxic and non conductive where the management don't walk the talk. Even, in the slim event, they do walk in, their runway will be short and you need to start the cycle again. After coming to close to 2 decades in the working world and numerous companies, that is the ironic situation which that is happening. Where some senior management leaders who thinks everything is working well or decided that commerical kpi drives the company and questioning why the hiring is taking so long and spending on advertising or marketing campaigns to try to promote company branding and employment branding would help to bring people in. Just like an airplane or a cruise ship, while the captain is the person giving the direction, all the people in their positions working together helps to ensure everything together, constantly changing staffs and running on less than ideal capabilities, is a disaster waiting to happen.

Personal update and sharing an exciting job opportunity in the Denver area: I'm leaving Housing Connector at the end of the month (A massive thank you note to come at a later date). This year has been tremendous. The Denver Market had well over 500% growth overall in the past year, and the market team is incredible 😤. When I joined around this time last year, we intended to get the Denver market off the ground, and that is exactly what we did. My departure is due to an opportunity in multifamily outside of the nonprofit space, and I'll share that in the coming weeks. I'm focusing my efforts these next couple weeks on a very specific project, and we are hunting for my successor. I love Jim Collins' analogy of a giant flywheel that takes collaboration and insane effort to get started- the Denver market flywheel is in motion and needs a leader who can jump in with the team and keep up with the momentum. 🚀 We're looking for a Managing Director with Entreprenurial rigor. Someone who can take data and technology insights and turn into impact for housing those in need. This person needs to be okay with high accountability and handling the pressure of urgent deadlines. Key elements (A fuller picture in the JD): 📢: Lead the Denver market team and sit on the national leadership team. Cultivate the culture, facilitate 1:1s, empower individual development, and orchestrate the team. 🤝: Hold relationships with key stakeholders across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The goal is housing and stability, it takes strong partnerships to drive this impact. Your outcomes will be dependent on this part of the role. 📈: Increase unit inventory through supporting the team selling into the rental market, both multifamily and SFR. 🌱: Fundraising to ensure the market remains healthy and sustainable financially. Most importantly, this role requires a high level of empathy, a bias toward taking action, and leading through transparency.
