Cambridge City Council’s pioneering Net Zero Retrofit Pilot has started on site, with Axis Europe delivering the project as main contractor. This ambitious initiative will upgrade fifty 1930s council homes on Ross Street and Coldhams Grove, significantly enhancing resident wellbeing by creating comfortable and healthy homes that are affordable to heat. Evaluation of the project delivery and post-completion monitoring will inform the development of future upgrade works to further homes across Cambridge, supporting the Council’s goal to be net zero carbon by 2030. Carbon negative council homes unveiled in Derby. Four new ‘carbon negative’ homes have been added to Derby City Council’s housing stock, meaning these ‘A’ rated properties can generate more energy than they consume across a year, making them even better than net zero. This milestone supports Derby’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions. The aim is, where possible, for all future Derby Homes and Derby City Council development projects to be built to this specification. Buildings contribute to around 40 percent of global carbon emissions, and almost three-quarters of these emissions arise from heating, cooling and powering these spaces where we spend 90 percent of our time. Our spaces need to be designed to benefit both people and planet. The #BBC StoryWorks series, ‘The Spaces That Shape Us’, shows that long-term thinking can create buildings that help lift people up without letting the planet down. Discover how #SGBC Member Knauf Insulation is bringing energy efficiency to social housing in Belgium. By renovating homes rather than constructing new ones and improving their insulation, these units can help reduce their carbon emissions. #BuildingTheTransition #builtenvironment #BuildingToCOP #TheSpacesThatShapeUs

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬... Bristol City Council is teaming up with EDAROTH UK to deliver 29 new affordable and sustainable homes, a tangible outcome of their participation in the UN Climate Smart Cities challenge. Wondering how these homes will achieve low energy usage and net-zero status? Here are some key highlights from the article: 🔹 Innovative Construction: A significant portion of the building components is crafted in a state-of-the-art UK factory, offering a dual advantage. This diminishes the carbon footprint during development and expedites the delivery process compared to traditional construction methods. 🔹 Energy Efficiency at its Best: The new homes are set to achieve an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) A+ rating. This commitment ensures that energy usage remains minimal and carbon emissions stay impressively low. This is a great start to tackle the housing crisis sustainably. Hopefully, this initiative sparks a broader movement toward eco-conscious housing solutions across the UK! 🌿🏡 #SustainableLiving #GreenHomes #climatetechnology #ClimateSmartCities #sustainableconstruction
