6moThis is very interesting. However looking up the Fire Marshall Reports mentioned, the number of fires with Lightning as a cause was significantly lower than what was reported here. 1922 - 117 total with 105 without rods and 4 with rods. Also in the last report of 1939 - 103 without rods and 12 with rods. This affects the ratio of loss significantly when you compare the two options looking at lightning caused fires.
